What is Jaron Boots Ennis waiting for?

A lot of people are pretending that this didn't happen.
Seems to me that Ennis was waiting for Spence to beat Crawford and vacate. As interim IBF champion he'd likely have been elevated.
Boots is a good fighter but it's hard to sympathise with him here.Comment

This is what happens when fighters are afraid to lose their "0" in the loss column. They are afraid to take the big risks so they choose to clout chase instead.Comment

Who would ever forget Jaron Boots' reaction when he learned Terence Bud was fighting Avanesyan? Boots was all over the social media saying, "I could have accepted the offer in a heartbeat." Which turned out to be a huge lie.
That was last year. Boots fought only once and spent the rest of the year waiting for Spence, who himself was waiting for the Crawford fight announcement, which didn't materialize.
Bud got impatient and accepted BLK's offer.
But looking back, had Jaron Boots Ennis been active and truthful with his pursuit of all the belts, not only IBF, he would have gotten the Crawford fight. He was #2 at WBO and got elevated to #1 when Ortiz, who was at #1, went with Stanionis' WBA strap. Avanesyan was only at #4. Interesting thing was BLK offered the fight weeks later and daddy Bozy went ballistic saying why BLK even have nerve to pull such thing off.
This is all documented on Youtube and various media sources.Last edited by maguirre; 08-23-2023, 01:53 PM.Comment

Not only was it a huge lie, but that the lie was confirmed by his own team. They even put the final nails in the Crawford fight coffin when they pulled out Ennis' name in the WBO rankings. Ennis' name is now nowhere to be found.
I have no clue about the business side of boxing, but it seems clear promoters themselves have preferences which ABC org to work with. WBA clearly being allied with PBC, WBO with Top Rank, as examples. I don't know Ennis team's preference for IBF, which WW belt is now owned by Crawford.Comment

It's always been a business decision for Ennis' team. Main objective is to maintain the zero loss record. Not only was it a huge lie, but that the lie was confirmed by his own team. Not only did they pulled out of the WBO rankings, they also pulled out of WBC and WBA. His name is nowhere to be found in 3 of the ABC orgs. How can this even be for a guy with such skill? Barrios is at #5 in the WBC, for example. Is he better than Ennis? Even guys who you haven't heard before were in that list.
He's #1 in the IBF, whose belt previously belongs to Spence. It's obviously this one and only Org they prefer to do business with.Comment

Ennis moved to the IFB and Virgil was moved to the WBA. Nothing to discuss. They were both #1 WBO mandatories before the moves.Who would ever forget Jaron Boots' reaction when he learned Terence Bud was fighting Avanesyan? That pretty much sums it all up. Losing is a terrifying thought with the current crop of fighters. Don't even know why they're even called "fighters." And why they're in this profession.Comment

Ortiz vs Crawford should have happened as well. I remember they're both available for each other at one time, and Vergil was in his healthy element. Unfortunately, things quickly change and such fight is now far from happening. Thought of losing for the Ortiz camp is clearly the culprit. As they say you can't turn back the clock.

Team Ennis is very specific in what they want. Crawford, obviously, is not in their specifics. It's always been a business decision for Ennis' team. Main objective is to maintain the zero loss record.
