I doubt that. The Saudis want a Heavyweight champion on the card, and they understand that sanctioning bodies constantly spring up and declare some random pairing of contenders as their "Champion".
Fury’s the only HWCOTW. That's the main draw.Comment

Are you serious?? You didn't see what I saw. Most people on this forum needed that to believe in Wilder again. He had suddenly become a "loser" after the the Fury fights
I *always* knew Wilder is a serious fighter. He knocked Tyson Fury down 4 times. And Fury is elusive. Wilder is fast, he can tag anyone. The only thing he lacks is a decent fight record. He needs some top-10 fights. Not just one every few years.Comment

You know I have to give AJ some credit for wanting to stay busy. AJ wants to fight. Fury is sitting on his rear doing nothing. fury should be strip of his title. Usyk is fighting on the 26th. i don't know what Wilder or Ruiz is up to. Ali defended his title nine times in just 3 years. somebody do that.Comment

I think Frank Warren is right on this one..the whole division came to a halt due to the Saudi deal. Remeber, it was supposed to happen in April initially before it got postponed. They everyone kept waiting till the deal is made so they know what kind of opponents they should be fighting, if any. Even Eddie announced this card very late because AJ is on record saying his next fight would be Wilder. Then Fury went to make a deal to fight Ngannou but Wilder-Ruiz is not finalized. You know I have to give AJ some credit for wanting to stay busy. AJ wants to fight. Intially, none of them were going to fight because the Saudi fighs were expected in early winter. It is only when that got postponed to Jan/Feb have the fighters started looking for possible opponents. Personally, I would like Wilder to fight Martin if they cannot come to terms with Ruiz. I guess nobody wants to be the one to show they have walked away because that jeopardizes the eliminator status of the fight.Comment

I doubt that happens.
If Wilder were to fight someone in the States, it would be an American or someone who can help sell the fight. Parker will come in with bigger risks, demand more money, and not contribute much to PPV or gate buys in the US. Promoters look at the commercial value of the boxer rather than his ranking. Wilder could have fought Kownacki if he weren't beaten to a pulp already. In the US, the biggest fights for Wilder would be Ruiz and/or Miller as he has already fought Ortiz twice. Martin could also be an option. Otherwise, they would probably get a lesser opponent that would also demand less money just to avoid ring rust. Going forward, Wilder probably fights less in carefully negotiated deals to get as much as they can from Saudi or elsewhere. If Wilder-Joshua makes a big impact, they will try to get Wilder-Usyk, or if Ngannou gives a good account of himself, then Wilder-Ngannou.
HW boxing in the US is not currently big business, and Wilder is no longer the champ. I think Wilder, Fury, and AJ are all looking for the biggest money fights at this stage of their respective careers. Wilder all the more as he is the most advanced in age amongst them all.Comment
