Comments Thread For: Nate Diaz Says He'd Have To Fight 1-to-3 Times In UFC To Earn What He's Making vs. Paul

The UFC and president Dana White have increasingly been under scrutiny in recent years around the topic of fighter pay. The always-entertaining Nate Diaz was at times public enemy number one, frequently calling on White for more favorable pay and better contractual terms.

I didn't like how Dana tried to put Diaz in with that beast for his final UFC fight. But glad Nate got paid well and went out with a W.

Nate is a warrior, but he's not a pro boxer. Paul knows some basics, and he's very big, so he probably wins.

Reminded me of when Dana had Jonny Hendricks fight Paulo Costa for his last fight on his contract.

Good thing Diaz vs Khamzat never happened.

If they could be boxers then they would have, mma is an expensive sport to learn on the usa either through bjj/kick-boxing schools of collegiate/freestyle. Boxing is a sport of the poor and those who come from the gutter

Boxing is for the natural fighters who have the self confidence to go for the big gold and the long history. There's no Johnsons, Dempseys, Louis's or Alis in MMA.

All combat sport athletes are cut from the same cloth. They just choose which rules to train for based on rewards offered and self belief.

Ngannou, a boxer who converted, had to dominate the MMA world before he got the confidence to aim high, using MMA as a stepping stone.

Yeah thats totally what it is. People who start training MMA literally go "that boxing thing is too difficult for me". Definitely nothing to do with cultural reasons, what you're exposed to, what you had a background in etc etc....

Thats because MMA didnt exist then so doesnt benefit from romanticization of a distant past, something boxing practically lives off of for decades now. How about try the last 30 years and compare Canelo, Floyd, Pac, RJJ, Oscar etc to Jones, Anderson, GSP, Fedor, Khabib, Aldo et al.

Or...you know, they just prefer one combat sport over another, again due to cultural reasons and exposure amongst other things.

Training boxing in Cameroon for 6 months without ever having a fight = "boxer who converted" lol.
