I might add that Spence has always seemed a bit intimidated by Bud. In every real world encounter between these two over the last several years I always detected a certain level of discomfort in Spence (who is just about the most relaxed guy you could find in anyone else's presence). Bud is a better fighter technically and physically, but he also seems to have a confidence about him that unnerves Errol. I don't think Errol ever wanted this fight to happen because he never believed he would win. That anxiety and lack of confidence very likely contributed to his stunningly poor performance on the night.

Jermell might go the distance with Canelo. We will soon know if the fight actually takes place, but I have to point out that Bivol and Mayweather are light years ahead of Jermell Charlo. That fight goes the distance. Canelo is not going to knock Jermell out. He is too slow and flat-footed with poor stamina. If Mell could stick and move; He not only has a good chance of going the distance but also winning the fight. If Dmitry Bivol and Floyd Money Mayweather could outpoint Alvarez then so can Jermell Charlo.Comment

Man, Bud was doing some 1940s **** in there with he parries and cross guards lol. When he was jabbing with Spence, he would parry Spence's jab with his back hand, move his head off line and jab with his right In a single motion. He processes at a different speed than Spence.
Its crazy because when you get to be in the 1% of 1% for the best in the world, in a sport, one would think that all your technical idiocyncracies are for the better. This has been demonstrated to clearly not be the case. You make some excellent points, Bomac made some good points about Spence and his leg positioning, reach and the distance between his legs... One thing I noticed was how easily it was to get Spence lined up squared to Bud. When you step and jab, if the person is slick they can find an angle where their counter hits you in the center and unbalances you, exactly what Bud did to Spence with that jab that knocked him down.Last edited by SweetPbfAli; 08-01-2023, 11:47 AM.Comment

Charlo is NOT Mayweather and he is NOT Bivol by any stretch of the imagination. Charlo doesn't stick and move and if he does, it's brief. He likes to stand there and try to impose on guys. But this will not work against Canelo who is used to fighting men who are naturally much bigger than Charlo. Charlo will see his punches don't faze Canelo, then what? He'll try to move and box, but that's not his greatest strength and he'll be moving ariund carrying about 15 lbs of extra weight that maybe he's used to walking around with, but not used to fighting with, which is a big difference. If he can't get Canelo's respect and can't move all night, then he'll have to fight. And that's when he gets hurt bad. Just like I said with Errol if u check my posts b4 the fight. Charlo vs Canelo will look like Canelo vs. Amir "Cuckold" Khan, just a little more competitive. Charlo will look like a real cutie in there until he starts getting hit upside the head then his jheri curl will start to drip and hang down over his eyesThat fight goes the distance. Bomack says that if given another minute in round two, Crawford would have KO'd Spence then. Ok, so why didn't he KO him in the third round, or the fourth? See, this kind of rhetoric is unnecessary. Bud pummeled Errol throughout the fight and got the stoppage in round nine. And Spence gave full credit to Crawford, with no excuses. No need for Bomack to throw in any "couldas", "wouldas" or "shouldas" here.Comment

Well said
There are 3 things that would have at least helped him be slightly competitive. Use feints! When Errol goes to attack, you know he's coming because he never uses feints to throw anyone off. That would have at least drew out some counters from Bud and maybe he could get his offense going off of that. Bud would have eventually adjusted to that but still.
Change the speed of his attack. Spence attacks at the same rhythm with the same set of combinations every time depending on where he or his opponent is at in the ring.
Every jab doesn't need to be a step jab. It's clearly a habit at this point born out of repetition but man he should add variety to his jab.Comment

yes, the mental speed, so to speak, worlds apart.
