Alot of guys had no interest in prime GGG. It is easy to say "GGG should have fought better comp", but I read several times that behind the scenes, many guys did not want anything to do with him......high risk, low reward.

      Prime Golovkin was scary.

thats all a myth a fairy tale. A lie. Truth is golovkin had the opportunity to fight the wards. He was too focused on the amount of money he could make. Canelo became a center piece for golovkin and all he cared about was getting paid. Canelo played and toyed with golovkins career and wasted it. The only thing that fans now have to hold on to is "well everyone was scared of golovkin so he couldn't get fights" no. He wasted his career chasing canelo. And canelo made him an example. Now he is vanished with a very shaky resume.

By the way, I don't agree with everything Sanchez has said about GGG in recent years but it is a stretch for some to say that GGG filled Sanchez' pockets. Abel was a successful business man prior to training GGG.
Tom Loeffler did a hell of a lot for Golovkin. He brought GGG over from Germany and then the deal with HBO if I'm not mistaken. Then on top of that he had Golovkin raising his profile by taking first pitch at major baseball games. Golovkin did the most though. Though he can box he Ko'd everyone in front of him including some very decent fighters like Martin Murray (who should have got the decision against Martinez in Buenos Aires). KO artists always garner major hype compared to pure boxers.

What brings out the hate though is that they hype did get out of hand. Jealousy is a real thing and fans of other fighters were mad that THEIR fighter wasn't getting the hype and exposure that Golovkin got.

But part of Golovkin's aura was the mystique of a KO artist from an obscure country. Something new. Same thing with Tzsyu senior. Now we see it a little bit with Matias at 140lbs.

Golovkin was good for the sport of boxing. As bad a state that boxing is in, we need all the stars we can get never mind what colour, nationality, style they have.

So Sturm avoiding GGG at all cost despite GGG being mandatory and being under same promotion is a lie?

Eubank Jr losing his pen is a lie?

Canelo wanting their fight at 155lbs before GGG turned 35 is a lie?

C'mon my man, either you are being intentionally disingenuous or have no clue about early 2010s boxing.

In the early 2010s GGG was the best MW, he took on any in the division who would fight him. Canelo wasn't even on the radar when G was in his prime and doing his best work, so it couldn't have been "based around canelo".

GGG beat Canelo twice after ginger aged him out, crushed a ton of really good fighters, gave fans alot of entertainment. As others have said, never got knocked down, never even seriously hurt.

He is retiring a multimillionaire, vacated rather than getting beaten at frickin 41 years of age. Looks young, is mentally totally fine, is still in great shape. He is literally a fairy tale ending for any boxer. Meanwhile Sanchez is saying it is "sad". Lol. Sanchez is a bitter assed moron.

The first three boxers he trained, Lupe Aquino, Terry Norris, and Orlin Norris, all became world champions. He went on to train other world champions during the 1990s, including Miguel Ángel González, Paul Vaden, Frans Botha, and Nana Konadu

Golovkin was his last hurrah - not his first rodeo

You can't argue with a hardcore hater. I don't like Ward, think he was very overrated, but I recognize he had a good career and was a good fighter. Not a Canelo fan, but admit that while I believe he is overrated, he is a damn good fighter with a legendary chin.

I think GGG just represents something negative to certain people.
