I know he trained other good fighters. I said GGG was his only true star, but should have specified, recently. I said Sanchez is a decent trainer, Terry Norris was also a great fighter. You'd think a guy who trained other champions would have a little more dignity and keep his issues with guys who made him millions private. Sanchez whines about GGG consistently.

get informed, it's easy!
from Wikipedia >
The first three boxers he trained, Lupe Aquino, Terry Norris, and Orlin Norris, all became world champions. He went on to train other world champions during the 1990s, including Miguel Ángel González, Paul Vaden, Frans Botha, and Nana Konadu
Golovkin was his last hurrah - not his first rodeo
none of those guys made over 10 mil in a single fight with Sanchez. That's what a star does.
They sign 100 mil deals like GGG does.Comment

Very few run to the fire without a huge pay-check and those who do are what make boxing especially fun. Yarde > kovalev and Beterbiev and now maybe Bivol. Shaun Porter - literally fought everyone at 147 - Bud is right about his resume. Porter should make it into the HOF eventually. Sor Rungvisai who fought these 3 fights in a row - Chocolatito 1, Chocolatito 2, Juan Estrada - I haven't seen a run like that for decades.Comment

Many boxers avoid a dangerous matchup until they see weakness or exposure. Late-career Canelo is a master at this - Golovkin (Brook) - Bivol (Richards) backfired - Kovalev (Ward, Yarde, Eleider alvarez).

yup. the point is GGG's prime was a very real thing. Fighters were getting panic attacks signing the agreement. Eubank Jr.
Sergio Martinez's promoter Lou Dibella straight up said, "Not fighting that animal."

Most fighters go out with a whimper, unless you retire at the very top after one of your biggest fights or best wins.
Look at Floyd, went out at the top so to speak but on a glorified sparring session with BERTO. Hardly the great send off. Unless you count the McGregor thing.
Manny, On a loss to Ugas
Canelo will probably go out no longer on top, if he even still is. Already ran a mile from fighting Bivol again and people think he's on the slide.
Lewis, went out after caving Vitali's face in but it wasnt exactly spectacular, it was the performance and many people feel he needed to give him a rematch.
The list goes on and on and on. It's the nature the sport, the vast majority of great fighters go out like that. There's not really many Hollywood endings where fighters end it at their biggest and most glorious endings.Comment

If he would have done it any time in his career. I don’t expect him to fight benevidez now. But there’s no excuse why he ducked ward Lara charlo kovalev for years sitting around begging Floyd and canelo to fight him. Literally one of the most pathetic careers of any fighter that could have been an ATGComment
