Anderson is very lucky this fight wasn’t 12 rounds.. almost KO’d in the end of the 10th, would’ve been in the 11th -

Joshua fought Whyte in his 15th fight. Martin and Whyte were at a similar level. Martin just so happened to have the IBF title due to Glazkov's freak injury. Joshua was also a Olympic gold medalist. I completely agree that Anderson still has improvements to make, and he's only 23. Anderson shouldn't be thinking about AJ/Wilder/Ruiz/Fury/Usyk.

That is a convenient line of thinking. Ten years older, been knocked out multiple times. Martin didn't look much different than he ever has, maybe a little more defensive minded. He doesn't move as well as he used to, still has power.

His chin has been checked several times by punchers. He is hurtable, that is just a fact. Anderson landed some big shots and even knocked Martin off his feet, but Martin never appeared badly hurt or in danger of losing. That says alot about Jared's power....Jared has been fighting guys who get hit and then quit, they are there to make the prospect look good.

Which is fine, but Martin showed that Anderson does not have killer power, and when Anderson gets hit by a puncher his killer instinct and semi arrogance evaporates. Jared did need this fight because he was buying his own hype a bit too much. Had he stopped a 37 year old Martin and looked like a killer, he is in the convo for a shot at the title. This fight showed he has a lot to work on. Martin is not a top tier HW. The best in the division would stop Anderson right now.

People laughed when I told Kossobutskiy would have knocked out Anderson, but I was probably right.

Jared should fight Takam next, Takam is a little better gatekeeper than Martin, he will give him tough rounds also.
Takam and his shell will be less offensive minded than Martin. It will be tough to match Anderson without feeding him name can types or putting him in over his head similar to what the Dubois fight looks like in August against Usyk.

I just don't see that fire in Anderson and I want to see it because he's a likeable guy. He's also American. Nationality has never been a reason I cheer on a fighter. But, I'd like to see an American heavyweight rise to the top. It would be nice. Like I said before, I think Anderson is lacking killer instinct. I would have liked to have seen him score a KO/TKO last night. But, it is what it is. He got the W and can make improvements moving forward.

anderson vs martin was nothing more than a undercard fight. This should not have been a main event by any means.

Anderson won and showed a good chin but man did he look like he wanted out a few times he kept checking the clock and he got hurt more than Martin did in the fight. It's never good when a fighter starts talking about retirement before they've even accomplished anything, makes it hard to have faith in them.

He has the athleticism to go far his defense just needs work, there aren't many southpaws at heavyweight but if Ortiz caught him with those lefts last night he would've been done. If he can work on that he has a decent work rate and is a big enough body to trouble some of these other guys but from what I saw last night he needs to take it slow he's only 23 no need to rush him into a knockout because that's what will happen if he goes in against one of the top 10 guys next.

Looks like he has trouble with bigger guys with longer reach , Fury and Wilder should be avoided for now, but I think he is competitive with the rest.

Yes, 37 year old fighter with 2 KO defeats on his record is obviously going to be better than when he was undefeated and in his prime.
