Canelo choosing Charlo over Benavidez is a blatant duck.

If Benavidez continues to win and Canelo is still champ, the fight will happen. It’s actually to Benavidez benefit that the fight not happen now, as he’s too green and weak defensively. Canelo beats him soundly.

the fight could be much bigger, Benavidez outside of the rankings needs a couple bigger name wins and the fight will happen.

He gave himself the nickname the “Mexican Monster” and has said for years he wants to be a big star with the Mexican fanbase.
No different than De La Hoya being a big star with the fans in Mexico despite being born in Socal and representing the US in the Olympics.
Still would be much bigger next May.

Spence has often mentioned the fight. Would do big numbers, especially if Spence beat Crawford. I slightly favour Bud though tbh.

None of y’all really believe Canelo is scared of Benavidez right?

he’s fought Kovalev and Bivol and a huge weight and size disadvantage and GGG 3 times but he’s now scared of Benavidez?

          doesn’t make any sense

Had he chose to rematch Bivol or face Jack at Cruiserweight, I can understand that. The revenge aspect with Bivol and the historical significance of winning a title at Cruiserweight is justifiable. However, there’s one guy we want to see Canelo fight above anyone else at 168 and that’s Benavidez.

Also the ironic thing is I actually think he beats Benavidez. He clearly doesn’t want it though, he isn’t willing to risk losing the Mexican/Latino fanbase.
See, you believe he can beat Benavidez. However, Canelo does not.

Canelo is getting older and he's starting to slip. Imo the longer he waits, the less likely he will face Benavidez.

Bro.... I love and respect you as a poster, but get out of here with that ****.

Canelo just fought ****in John Ryder and was about to fight Edgar ****in' Berlanga if he stayed with DAZN.

A washed Charlo is light years ahead of his competition at Matchroom.

You know what ducking Benavidez would be? Signing another three fight deal with Hearn.

He signed with Benavidez's promoter. Three fights. Benavidez will be one of them.

He got 2 years at least. Next year cinco de Mayo would be perfect, but it’s up to Benavidez to make it make sense monetarily. If Canelo gets past Charlo, expect a start busy fight round December/ January making Canelo ready in may 2024 for Benavidez, if Benavidez can beat some more high profile names.

Also, the WBA belt was last defended in Dec 2020, IBF Jan 2021, WBC Feb 2021, and WBO in May 2023.

So the only guy who would be getting ducked here is Canelo's WBA mandatory, David Morrell jr. Then his IBF obligations against whoever takes the fight, William Scull, Vladimir Shishkin, Edgar Berlanga being the top 3.

THEN, and only THEN would the WBC be able to order Benavidez.

Anything else is a VOLUNTARY defense and Canelo can fight whoever he wants. Since WBA hasn't ordered the fight with Morrell yet, he doesn't have to fight anyone at the moment, and he's not ducking anyone.

People on NSB clearly don't understand the concept of mandatory rotation.
