They chose a good pic of Eddie to go with the story lol.

Hearn exacerbated a preexisting issue in boxing: the over-inflation of fighter's purses. Arum recently spoke on behalf for all promoters when he discussed the difficulty in making high marquee match-ups due to boxers' unrealistic sense of worth. At some point, the bubble has to burst.
you’re 100% on what you’re saying, but the part you’re missing is the star power. Yes, all those that Hearn signed were really talented fighters, but they can’t even sell 3k tickets in their hometown. I love Andrade, but for whatever reason, the casual fan hates him. Same with farmer. Really good but can’t sell. Hearn gave them both top attraction $, which they’re not, hence why they were free agents to begin with when Hearn signed them. Promoting boxers is a business, you need to make $ at the end of the day. Hearn lost a shiet ton on both because neither are ticket sellers.
Bob Arum has major reservations about a potential “super fight” pitting Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis against Shakur Stevenson—and apparently his thinking has little to do with corporate politics.

That's what you wish LOL... This article has nothing to do with PBC, yet you mention them. Do you work for Top Rank? Why do you have such a vested interest in seeing PBC go down? It's weird really. Showtime and PBC have put on the best Fights in arguably the last decade, yet certain people want to see it tank. Is it a race thing?Comment

I wouldn't wage all my future business health on Fury - the definition of uncertain. Fury could retire tomorrow or go on and be an ATG. Nobody knows what he will do. Not even him. Fury is the icing on the cake but does TR have a cake? Also when Bob expires will T.R even continue? Could become like Main Events - carry on but as a lesser version of itself.Comment

I can't speak too much on the US market but I will say that boxing is thriving in the UK - much more so than in the US. This weekend 15,000 were at Bournemouth football stadium to watch Billam-Smith vs Okolie - this has nothing to do with nationalism. It's healthy local support for one of your own - call it tribalism if you want - we have the same thing for football matches up and down the country every year for the last 150 years. Part of the national psyche I guess.
Yes this is the best post ever and I've been saying this for years about boxing and other sports. Why do you think fighters like 3G, Loma or Kovalev were so (fake) popular. Three fighters from eastern Europe that would have been nobodies without the push from HBO and ESPN. You promote a fight in NYC with those 3 and every eastern European European living in America will pack a four thousand seat arena and treat that fight like it was the biggest global event ever. Meanwhile the other 10 million actual resident US citizens will be galavanting around NYC without a clue about that fight. Same as why Manny Paq was so popular. When have you ever seen an Asian athlete so wildly popular on that level? Because every Asian American, Japanese Korean Chinese Taiwanese, saw someone who looked like them and supported them to the fullest and I applaud them for that. Remember Jeremy Lin? Yao Ming and Jermey were the only Asians that had any success in the NBA and they sold out every game during the season because Asians came out in drives not for their love of basketball but because of their love of their people. That was a great post sir and we need to have these real discussions!
But that exists in the US too with supporting the team from your city - be it baseball, US Football, basketball, hockey and now soccer. And it exists in the US too in boxing with Bud selling out in Nebraska of all places. So this tribalism exists in the US for boxing, same as UK - but what is the major issue then? Looks to me like boxing is just not as popular in the US as it is in the UK - and that is maybe where Hearn had issues, he misunderstood the US market - as promoting boxing in the US is not as easy as the UK - and why? simply because boxing is less popular in the USA.Comment

Haney vs Lomachenko only did 150,000 PPV buys?
That’s terrible. Whatever Bob Arum makes for promoting is too much…he is severely overpaid for the quality of work he does.Comment

In the 1970's & 1980's the question usually was "How many rounds will the visiting fighter last"? The boxers skills has tighten within the last 20 years. .
