In MMA? They all beat him easily. Wrestlers beat boxers outside a boxing ring, this has been a constant since the "no holds barred era" in the 90's. Fury was getting taken down by Darren Till with ease and that's a welterweight. Rakic, Jiri, Hill, Jan and Ankalaev would all take him down without a problem and beat him there.
In boxing, never in a million years. In fact nobody in UFC is even lasting a decision against him. UFC champions get knocked out by youtubers in boxing ffs.
I actually think Fury would do better against some UFC heavyweights than lightheavyweights. That division is filled with one dimensional overweight fighters that stand and ****. Guys like Tuivasa, Gane and Rozentruik would probably stand with Fury and try to use their kicks and punches. He may win it like Mercer beat Sylvia in that case. They are not even that good by kickboxing standards. Of course guys like Almeida, Blaydes and Jones would just take him down and pound him in seconds like Randy Couture did to James Toney but you could create a "path to the HW belt" for Fury with the right matchmaking lolLast edited by Greg House; 05-19-2023, 04:07 PM.Comment

UFC is overrated. They like to brag on their striking, but they've only got a few really elite guys, like Pereira, Adesanya, and Thompson. Saw a UFC trailer talking about insane kicks with some ok calf kicks from Gaethje, and then later that same night, Tawanchai broke a guy's femur with ONE thigh kick. Most of the UFC guys get absolutely embarrassed by boxers when they can't threaten kicks and takedowns, and they've got bad habits of keeping hands lower because they're used to having to defend the aforementioned kicks and takedowns.Comment

That should be obvious though. How could you expect a "jack of all trades" to defeat a "master of one" in their own craft? UFC fighters get embarrassed all the time against BJJ practitioners, even though BJJ guys are usually forbidden of using some techniques against them to "keep it competitive". In Wrestling? Just watch what happened to Ben Askren against Jordan Burroughs. No contest, not even close.UFC is overrated. But if you loosen the rules of every discipline and start to give the fighters more tools to work with, then the MMA fighters would come on top more often than not. Because they are better prepared in every area of fighting unlike their opponents who are masters of only one area and a zero on all the others. Which is the big disadvantage that Fury would have against them if he doesn't fight them under boxing rules.Comment

As you say, there's a reason that they're called "Jack of all trades" not "King". Specialists will always have an advantage in their discipline. That's honestly why I watch boxing. No better way to learn about the nuances of hands than watching boxers IMO. Or kicks from Muay Thai fighters, or ground from a Sambo or Jiu jitsu specialist.Comment
