Obviously in the last fight his face didn't hold up so doesn't matter if you can get hit by a rhino without blinking the doctors take it out of your hands.
He believed his mystique of being "The Juggernaut" and did very little film study or technical preparation. The Parker KO was fool's gold.

I doubt it, but we shall see. I think Joyce gets mashed again, though I hope I'm wrong.

We shall see, won't we? I think Joyce will take another beating. I hope I'm wrong.

But Joyce can take a brutal beating and still win.

He got battered by Zhang but I wouldn't have backed against him taking that fight on points were it not for the eye closing over.

I think Zhang will need to stop him. He's not that easy to stop.

So? I was honestly expecting Joyce to fight Zhang the same way he fought Dubois.

In that fight vs Dubios, Joyce's defense and awareness was the best it has ever been.

Joyce was still getting whacked by Dubois, but he was fighting a really disciplined fight 'Solid Jab and movement. Joyce seem to be actively trying to avoid Dubois attacks instead of just wading through the power'.

Those are the revised tactics, I am expecting from Joyce. I think coming into the first fight, the hype he received from his win vs Parker 'May have been taken too literally'.

Parker is a big puncher, but Zhang is a level above etc.
It's hard to say whether Joyce didn't show Zhang enough respect or whether he was trying to be careful and disciplined, but just couldn't handle the southpaw stance, especially the speed and accuracy of Zhang's left cross, which he throws without any tells. We'll find out in the rematch, I guess.

Agreed. Important to note too as we segue to discussions about Joe Joyce and his deficiencies is that Zhilei Zhang has been a slightly better fighter than Joseph Parker back to when he beat Parker at the AIBA World Championships in 2011.

Will he learn how to protect his face over night?

If not, Zhang destroys his face again.

Joyce should take the step aside money and let boxing be bigger than the UK. Joyce has some high capabilities as he demonstrated against Parker, and there are boatloads of good heavyweights that he is capable of smashing to bits!
Zhilei Zhang isn't one of them.
