I'm not convinced that Mayweather's influence on the sport was good. The ideal used to be the best fighting the best, which really allowed the cream to rise. Mayweather's example in my opinion has given rise to the top guys rarely fighting each other and worrying more about money than legacy or seeking out the toughest challenges. Activity is considerably lower, and the financial focus has made it easier for corruption to flourish. I don't fault people for wanting to make money at their chosen sport, but I don't think it's good for the sport to have that come at the expense of having the best wanting to face each other, and the Money Mayweather mentality has certainly killed a lot of the best fights.

And in any case, the question wasn't about greatness, per se, but about who would rank where on the admittedly fantasy all time pound for pound list. If weights etc were equal, and you put them in the ring in their primes, who wins?

Floyd is not responsible for the best not fighting the best. The issue today is multiple promotional outfits and belts. You used have one champ per weight class and fighters had to eliminate each other to get the number one contender spot for a title shot. That's not the case anymore. Different promotional outfits have different belts and mostly stage in-houses fights protect those belts.

It is only when there is too much money to pass up then they're ready to make cross-promotional fights.

As many times as this type of thread has been made, you cry babies should be cool with the majority choosing guys like Srl over him for obvious reasons.
