I'm not convinced that Mayweather's influence on the sport was good. The ideal used to be the best fighting the best, which really allowed the cream to rise. Mayweather's example in my opinion has given rise to the top guys rarely fighting each other and worrying more about money than legacy or seeking out the toughest challenges. Activity is considerably lower, and the financial focus has made it easier for corruption to flourish. I don't fault people for wanting to make money at their chosen sport, but I don't think it's good for the sport to have that come at the expense of having the best wanting to face each other, and the Money Mayweather mentality has certainly killed a lot of the best fights.

And in any case, the question wasn't about greatness, per se, but about who would rank where on the admittedly fantasy all time pound for pound list. If weights etc were equal, and you put them in the ring in their primes, who wins?

Thats subjective but I think the times are as much to blame for the bads in boxing as any fighter, the world has changed and boxing fans like to have a scapegoat, there was nothing Floyd was the first at, he just made it pay more than anyone else could.

As to who wins I think Floyd beats anyone 130/140 above that he is two small when looking at ATGs that started at 147.

The guy I answered said Greater that's what I responded to the question about greatness.

          .
The too small excuse is one of the reasons why Ray runs circles around Floyd

Leonard probably has the better resume overall but I think Floyd is the better fighter skill wise. Leonard was a stick and move kind of fighter. Floyd was the more complete fighter in my opinion.

Weight matters a lot with prime ATG fighters, Ray would not run rings around Floyd but his power might be too much, the styles of the two would make a fascinating chess match and there would be more sugar in that ring than all of Asia, what a magnificent pair of fighters.

I always say that SRL is the best example of quality over quantity. That man did so much in 40 fights. Actually, far less when you takeaway the comebacks.

Style per style. Technique per technique. Accuracy. Efficiency. Ability to adjust. Defense. Then that all points to Floyd.

But who's greater between them? It's Leonard. Who wins if they fight? probably Leonard too but I doubt Floyd wouldn't hold his own.
Leonard as 4 wins against prime ATG fighters something Floyd doesn't have in his resume in my opinion. His best win against an absolute prime fighter is still Corrales.

Its the only time they can talk about Floyd losing, seeing their own words say he lost is soothing to them, its weird how human nature comes out.
