Ryan already tried going with Reynoso. If going with a coach who teaches smart counter punching, technique, defensive responsibility wasn't for him last time, it probably won't work this time. Ryan seems in love with his offense and would be better with a coach who can work with that and modify it in small ways rather than change his style too much. Yeah in theory he'd be better if he boxed instead of pressed, but I can't think of any trainer who can turn him into that at the top level.

Personality has a big impact on how a boxer fights. Ryan doesn't have the mentality of Canelo or Tank to relax 100% in there and work with the opportunities that are available. He is more like Khan, Tyson, Judah and others where they just want to get in there, show off their ability and get the finish before an opponent resists too much. Guys like that get anxious/bored/frustrated the longer a fight goes and that's just a central part of who they are.

Goosen gave good advice from what I heard. Ryan thought he knew better and ignored it, but acts like the trainer is to blame for the loss. Khan, Tyson did the same after losses as well.

Goosen was phoning in to the other side..

Rat behavior is not shocking since the guy has been on Uncle Alan payroll and has been finished with training for a long time. I also have been told he pulled a Chepo, and barely trained this camp, Ryan dad Henry was putting in most of the work.

I hope Ryan pivots to Manny Robles.

Goosen is an offensive fighter, Garcia needs a trainer that will teach him better defense. That is what separates the elite level to the B fighters.

Maybe someone like Virgil Hunter can help him exploit his talent or that old fart Nacho Beristain, except he won't understand his directions.
I am sure oscar knows tons of good trainers.

Or as it was mentioned here above by others, Floyd Sr. would be good. He is the best from east to west, there is no contest you must confess.

I have heard that before about Goosen, he is not one to be entirely involved in a fighter's camp/work outs. Heck I have never seen him in work out attire. Always seems to be ready for the cameras.

I think the only tricks Goossen taught to Garcia were on how to put the pomade on the hair the right way.

Ryan Garcia Parts Ways With cornerman Joe Goossen.

Now he needs to find a way to part company with "promoters"... De La Hoya and Hopkins at Golden Boy, who have now showed back up, and trying to line their pockets with more money from a rematch with Tank Davis.

Ryan should be a bigger man, and not be selfish.
He should spare De La Hoya, Hopkins and Goosen from any more trauma from 'death threats' that they might receive again if he loses, and prevents them from standing up with their fighter, and attending any post fight proceedings.

It's only the right thing to do, because a rematch with Tank Davis can still happen with another promoter not afraid of unsubstantiated death threats.

                Every one loves a winner.

I like Joe Goosen, but he was clearly way too much of a fan of Ryan's to be an effective coach. Ryan, for his part, is far too full of himself, too distracted by admirers and sycophants to ever be a good student of anyone.

can add that to the list of reasons why garcia lost, the coach just wasnt the right fit... i would say he should get back with reynoso but then again garcia had to leave him in order to further 'his brand'
