Like, "he should have cut the ring off better." Cutting the ring involves diagonal movement to stay close rather than just following them, but then you also have to be able to hit them with something when they touch rope and have to exit out the side. That generally means a looping shot or a hook in boxing, which are shorter ranged shots.

That was in the post you replied to, which was the first time you mentioned footwork. Except mine was correct, and yours wasn't, since you think it's lateral movement (that's sideways, eg 9:00/3:00), and that's not cutting off the ring at all.

The "footwork" is how you move your feet to accomplish said movement. Totally obvious you have zero ring experience. You didn't even get it right, since you thought it was lateral, because you're just repeating things you've heard commentators say.

And from articles I've read, it sounds like it took something out of him in the process..at least in the short term.
For sure the fight before this one - he definitely lacked the energy in that fight. He said he didn't really want to be there.

I will say that he has not had the same spark for the last 2 fights, but Saturday I didn't think was all that bad.
