Hatton got screwed by the ref.... I have never been high on Hatton but I am sure if the Ref wasnt on Floyds nuts and let him get away with so many elbows Hatton would have beaten him.

Either way, the fight seemed like such a weird fight.


It makes me mad how people are using this fight as a gauge to why Mayweather will beat Pacquiao.

Pacquiao carried his speed and strength, Marquez didn't, he looked top heavy and slow on his feet. I also don't know how Mayweather will shoulder roll a right hook from a southpaw stance.

I'm not necessarily just using that fight and what happened in it, but I don't think Pacquiao stands a chance in a fight agaisnt Floyd.

Floyd is just great at making guys miss and then making them pay. I just see him doing that to Manny a lot. Floyd has a great chin too, and I don't think that Pacquiao has the one-shot power to truly hurt Mayweather and I think that at this stage that is a MUST if you want to beat Floyd.

Pacquiao is sloppy but the only way to catch him is with combinations. The only fighters that were ever able to catch him were notorious combination fighters.

The first 2 or 3 punches miss because Pacquiao has very quick head movement and a hard to time rhythm. The 4th punch lands because he couldn't see it coming.

Aside from that, It seems like Pacquiao has a lot of things going for him against Mayweather. 1 being I don't think FMJ can hurt him, 2 he's defensive first. Pacquiao loves fighting coming forward, he doesn't like fighting backwards. Even against Hatton he looked sloppy fighting backwards but he had wicked speed and a good gameplan to counter that.

fighting Floyd he will have all the room in the world to attack, if floyd sits on the ropes? all the better.

maybe I'm delusional..thats what I see though. My trainer shares the same opinion as you and I didn't here the end of it after Marquez lost

He did better then Hatton, yet the same commentators were going on during the Hatton fight how good Hatton was doing.

Take away the knock down and Mayweather really didn't do **** to Marquez. I'm not saying Marquez won but it's utter BS seeing all these people going on like he was dominated. Marquez gave him a lot of trouble, even being the smaller blown up man. Mayweather looked like he didn't know what to do against Marquez so he resorted to jabbing, hence not being able to knock Marquez out.

The same garbage was happening in the Cotto vs Margarito fight, I bet Cotto would have won that fight had he not been stopped (by robbery). Margarito was visibly busting Cotto up from round 2 and on, yet the Letterman card was even up untill the 9th or 10th round (or something like that). WTF?

I shut the volume off the JMM vs Mayweather fight and i'm seeing the same thing, a competitive fight, Marquez landing less, throwing more but getting some hard shots in. He lost a decision, i'm not dis*****g that - but no way in hell was he dominated, he put up a good fight.

I think this is why Mayweather kept saying "I felt a bit rusty" or "I can still improve" it's because he felt like he was having trouble with Marquez.

One last thing, when a fighter "smiles" after getting hit, it usually means it hurt. For some ****** ass reason the commentators are acting like Mayweather is just joking around. Marquez said so himself after the fight "I know he felt my punches".

anyways, for those of you who actually read all this I thank you, I expect the typical meat head responses to call me a Marquez nuthugger who's crying over spilled milk. I had Mayweather winning - but not by domination.

Marquez never delivered on what he said was going to be his gameplan which was pressure and he just fell back and got potshotted and jabbed the whole fight. the only time marquez even through alot of punches was when floyd baited him in from the point he got knocked down. I was kinda dissappointed with him when he's shown so much more will to win in other fights along with mental toughness. He didn't adjust at all and just seemed like he was happy just to last the rounds. I guess he just tried to put on too much weight but I hesitate to see that by how he looked in training.

Marquez was fighting while climbing up a mountain at the same time. He was simply at a clear disadvantage. He was clearly up way beyond his best weight and its shameful to think that Mayweather didnt respect the contract that called for a catchweight of 144 lbs. With all those odds stacked against JMM, he still dug down deep and did his best against an opponent he knew he needed miracles against.

Juan Manuel Marquez made it to the final bell because he has a great defensive wit. He was in the fight defensively, but he just didnt have the offense to make it a competative fight. He said before the fight that he would jump all over Mayweather the way Hatton and DLH did, but as soon as the bell rang it was clear that pressure fighting is not something JMM is comfortable doing.

I think Mayweather did try his best to press for a knockout in the 10 and 11 rounds. He is just not the kind of fighter to open up without risking getting hit. I think he said he felt rusty because he wasnt able to land good combos against Marquez. It probably had less to do with ring rust than it did with Marquez being ring savy enough to get away from alot of the punishment.

One thing I was proud of JMM for was the way he was batting away and catching alot of the body shots Mayweather threw at him. He may have not won a single round, but he still showed me that he is still one of the most respected boxers in the world for a reason.
