im just not talking about him declining, but his overall personality, etc... after losing to canelo and breaking up with Abel, he has never been the same. even in interviews. he doesnt sound the same or have the same passion from his facial expression. it's like he's mad that he loss to canelo deep down inside but he doesnt want to come out and say it but you can tell it bothers him because he'll take little jabs at canelo here and there (on canelo's positive drug test) when he gets the chance. this is NOT how GGG used to carry himself.

That's kinda what I've always thought - it's like the robbery in the first Canelo fight particularly kinda soured him and it's like 'well if that's the way the business is so be it'.

like i said, he was already making $5-10mil per fight BEFORE canelo... if he never fought canelo, he would still be undefeated and would still be view as the beast he once was... cater in the fact that people will still want to see him fight canelo so whoever G fights, fans will tune in, in hopes that GGG vs canelo will be next!!

he could ride off of that alone, the fact that fans would want to see G fight canelo next, they will tune in to see his fights. you are acting like he made over $100mil fighting canelo... he didnt make that much fighting canelo vs what he was already getting before. G already seen millions before fighting canelo. he should have just stayed in his own lane.

He definitely wasn't making $5-10million per fight before Canelo. The only fight that seems like he cleared $5 million was against Brook. The only other 2 that that could've happened were Lemieux and Jacobs but I don't think those sold enough PPV's to get him anywhere close to $10 million, once everyone gets their cut.

I was always a GGG fan. Never a superfan, but I did always give him the benefit of the doubt, and still think the first two Canelo fights were wrong decisions.

But lately some things really bothered me.

It started with him dropping his belt, and to me it seemed like he ducked Lara. That could have been a great fight with two past-prime greats who are still very good. GGG being a force who corners opponents and then pounds on them, and Lara being the playful boxer, it would have been an exciting matchup.

And I've also recently saw something that GGG twitted after the 3rd Canelo fight that really bothered me. He posted "Friendship has won" (see tweet below).

So that and the fact that he gave up his belt to not fight Lara left a bad taste, and makes me feel like much of the Canelo drama was just an act, and that he just cashed out.

I get it, money is money and if you can make plenty and leave this brutal sport with your health more or less intact, that's excellent business. But it just doesn't seem like something a true great sportsman boxer warrior would do.

Maybe GGG will have some sort of redeeming fight before retiring. But for now it seems to me that GGG has sold out. That's my opinion and that's where I stand.

Good fighter who I think beat Canelo twice but apart from that overrated and I lost respect for him when he turned up for a pay cheque when he had the chance to becoming undisputed at 168. No excuse for that, was pathetic.

His legacy rode on whether he could beat Canelo or not. It was the biggest fight he could make and he lost all three. With the third fight being an apparent over-the-hill fighter. Even for a puncher, he was gun shy and that is the ultimate indicator in this sport that a competitor is finished.

Fighting Lara would do nothing for his legacy. Beating Andrade would do nothing for his legacy. To a lesser extent, beating Charlo would do nothing for his legacy.

He's no Marvin Hagler, who wiped out the whole division which had multiple 'canelo' level fights.

But like Hagler, the 1 super meaningful fight, losing that? There is nothing else to be had. Losing it 3 times and worse each subsequent time?

GGG would be justified and probably for the best, if he walked off into the sunset at this point.

Him and his team were good with the easy W's in his prime.
Thought they would = big success.
Not keeping his infamous promise was a huge backfire.
Limiting his chase for greatness to Nelo also backfired.

If only he actually took chances could we know if he even has a decent legacy.

Golovkin sold out his legacy once he knew that the Alvarez payday was almost guaranteed. Both fighters just bit their time to make the fight for different reasons, but Golovkin shamelessly never tried to enhance his legacy. Golovkin fans can make all the excuses they want but at the end of the day it was him out of all the equations that was not willing to risk taking a loss before facing Alvarez or even after which is worse
