He knows he's at the end so belts don't do anything for him anymore. I think the years of boxing politics, even going back to Universum, finally got to him and he's pretty much saying **** you at this point. 160 is too hard to make for him and he can't seem to pull the trigger at 168 so he's in a tough spot. Last few years have soured things for me but I can't deny he was a force up until 2015.

That's because there's no such thing as a "true great sportsman boxing warrior."

That's a fantasy the fans project onto these guys.

Boxing is their job and these are men like you and me. Taking care of their family and their health is the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, on through 100th priority. Making the fans happy and keeping up the fans' fantasies about them is far down the list, and even moreso as they get older.

A call for 40 year old GGG to fight Lara is like one of us getting a call to work 3 months on an offshore oil rig, but we're also 40 and don't really need the money. You would have taken the gig when you were 23 in a heartbeat, but at 40? The money probably isn't good enough to go bust your ass in stressful and dangerous conditions. You'd rather sit on the couch and eat pasta this spring.

GGG is on the couch. He might get off it for a quick, easy job in town, or a massive job with a huge payday, but otherwise? He's staying on the couch.

This is how it works in boxing because this is how it works in life.

Made more $$$ in each Canelo fight than any other fighter he faced. COMBINED! It’s called prize fighting.

he may have made more fighting canelo for just those 2 fights, but if he never fought canelo and was still undefeated, i think he could have made the same fighting other fighters. once he fought canelo, he was never the same, and after the break up with his trainer, it went downhill for him... he used to be looked at as this strong power puncher.

What you describe is life after 35 for a typical boxer, if he's lucky. The first fight should have happened when Golovkin was 33 but Canelo hid out at 155 for a couple years.

im just not talking about him declining, but his overall personality, etc... after losing to canelo and breaking up with Abel, he has never been the same. even in interviews. he doesnt sound the same or have the same passion from his facial expression. it's like he's mad that he loss to canelo deep down inside but he doesnt want to come out and say it but you can tell it bothers him because he'll take little jabs at canelo here and there (on canelo's positive drug test) when he gets the chance. this is NOT how GGG used to carry himself.

No. There isn’t another fighter out there that ggg could have came anywhere near the money he made vs Canelo. Not even close.

He was robbed twice in the first two Canelo fights, maybe that is what's driving his recent decisions to drop belts and shun a fight with Lara. His way of saying F-you back to boxing. Outside of HBO, the boxing establishment didn't appreciate him, which may be discouraging for someone who gave it his all in every fight. A win over a shot Lara doesn't do anything for his legacy. Perhaps he just wants to ride off into the sunset with a few money grabs, which he's entitled to at this point. I don't think he's pretending to be something he isn't.
                      Lol
Golovkin Lost the secodnt fight against Canelo fair and square

A shot Lara would be his third best rival in his whole career
