I can see your point. Maybe ATG isn't deserved then by Vitali. I meant that as a fighter, he's up there. He did dominate/KO the ones he's faced though. Don't make him less of a fighter.

For one thing, it's extremely hard to get on the inside against Vitali. He knows how to fight tall, judges distance superbly, and is brilliant at staying out of range of a shorter fighter and landing hard punches of his own while on the back foot. And whenever shorter fighters do get close, he is very effective at tying them up.

Frazier could not cope with tall fighters with real power. Watch his fights with Foreman, especially the rematch. He was never able to get inside against Foreman.

Tyson, even under Rooney, was never able to fight on the inside against tall fighters who knew how to tie him up - see Bonecrusher Smith and Tony Tucker. And Douglas showed that tall, skilful fighters who were able to judge distance and jab strongly were a stylistic nightmare for him.
      Someone with reasoning!

Some weird analogies there, but whatever floats your fruit. If you're inferring to what you're seeing from your monitor, then that's also a bit strange - all we're doing is typing a bunch of pixels on a screen, so you can't actually "see" anything in front of you (i.e. a person) besides a message in cyberspace. Yet you're somehow deriving from that, that I'm a punk? *shrug* Ah well. It's only the internet in the end - and it's a great Sunday.

Five times now with the obsessive "punk" thing, and you're asking me to back off when I didn't even start on you? Diddums. And still the weak smileys come out to play - are you incapable of typing out your grief?

In any case, I only called you a cunt because you posted in response to me with such jumped-up vitriol in the first place. Ain't that just how it goes? This is some tit-for-tat ****, man. I'm all calm and laffing here. :wnk1:

Mathis was 6'3" - the same height as Haye. shorter than Arreola. And Mathis didn't have much power at all - out of 30 wins, which were mostly against B-level opposition, only 21 were KOs.

And in any case he didn't use his height advantage at all - he didn't fight tall like Vitali (and Foreman). Stylistically, he's a very bad example to give.

Foreman is an ATG because of his resume, and he had tremendous power, but in terms of skills he was not comparable with Vitali. He was slower, less accurate, and easier to hit. Stylistically, Vitali would have been at least as much of a problem for Frazier as Foreman was, although he doesn't have the one punch KO power Foreman had.

As for judging Frazier, he was an ATG, but one who couldn't cope stylistically with very tall fighters with real power who know how to fight tall. Styles make fights.

You started this crap with the wanking smiley. I don't see how it even applies to me. I'k ok with using the word punk over and over, so get over it already. What grief are you talking about? Smileys are simply easier and cuter

Regarding how good a fighter he really is, one reason why résumé is so important in determining ATG status is that it's very hard to judge how good someone really is unless they have faced some really good opposition. Lots of fighters look wonderful against weak opposition but then get outclassed as soon as they step up in class. It's not Vitali's fault that most of his opposition has been very weak, but it has.
