Why can Andy Ruiz not get in shape?

Can someone explain this to me? Guy wins the unified title, then gains MORE weight. This is a POST-Buster Douglas/Chris Arreola world, where we can use them as a case study.

Why can Andy Ruiz not get in shape? Is it genetic? Or is it just gluttony and the inbability to stop shoving ground beef down his gullet?

Major league question. The only time I’ve seen Ruiz in shape halfway, he won the biggest fight of his life (AJ 1). You’d think that would be motivation enough but apparently not.

Because he eats more calories than his body needs to maintain his weight.l

It's too late for him, he could lose 50lbs and come in at 210 in his next fight and would still look like a slob with all the loose skin.

Even in the 1st AJ fight, he had globs of skin/fat hanging over his waist band.

Ruiz looks like a career fat guy, meaning he was probably never slim, trim and fit. Can he get in shape? Maybe with a lot of hard work, dedication and change in lifestyle. Will he? That's the million dollar question.

He's in shape, fat and happy at about 255. He's not going to improve his boxing coming in at much less.

Part of it is his body type and genetics, but he also eats too much. He'll never look like David Haye, but he also lacks the discipline to be in the best shape he could possibly be as a professional fighter.

Ruiz doesn't care boxing anymore, he already achieved one of the greatest upsets in boxing history when he destroyed a prime Anthony Joshua and so he's content.

Dude's about snickers, burritos, bitchez, beer and easy money.
