That rolling on the ground hugging sht don't work IRL.
That sounds like panic IMO ( no offense to you though). A fight is a fight, and you have to be able to handle yourself on the ground, because one day your friends won't be there to help.

Good point, that's why it's imperative that you destroy the guy once you've knocked him down. Hurt him so bad he won't wanna get up. Break something if you can, if not, permanently damage something else.

In real life, most fights don't end up on the ground but you have to be ready if some meat head manages to get you there and tries to choke you out. I have no problem with people hating on MMA. I even agree partially on their criticism, and in the past i disliked MMA too. But since i started to practice it, i had a new found respect and i can tell you that all the ground techniques(Jiu jitsu) and throws(wrestling, judos) are very hard to learn and require skills.
Practicing boxing and jiu jitsu, i would say that boxing requires more finess than Jiu Jitsu and takes more time to get a combination working in a sparring session. With Jiu jitsu, if the "opponent" is not too big and as experienced as you, the technique goes by itself.

yes, they do. take downs are technique moves, so is the stand up game. it's all part of fighting. i really don't get this whole "mma is gay" thing, i do understand i'd come out of a haters mouth ... but it's still a ridiculous statement. i'm not a big fan of the sport but i respect them. just like i respect any other sport, they all require a certain discipline, a working regimen and hard training - you can't help but to at least respect what they do.

If I drop somebody Im puttin the boots to 'em. If that person so happens to train in BJJ Im going to have a lot harder time stomping their ****ing head in.

You have never been in a real fight if you honestly think that.

To the guy that said "My friends jump in at school..." well, you're in school moron! A school fight isn't real life.

Wait until you're a prick to someone outside of school and it's only you and one of your friends and he decides to kick both your heads in and your friend gets knocked out straight away. Do you think he's going to let him recover before he then kicks your head in and knocks you out before stealing all your ****e too?

If you're in a real street fight you often don't have any friends with you or the other guy does that will help him get you on the ground before stomping your f.ucking head in.

How are old are you two kids? Twelve? That age the fights you have don't mean ****.

What would I panic about? that the other guy would hug me to death?
Nobody wanted to see two guys rolling on the floor hugging each other especially when no punches were being thrown so fights were broken apart and started over. No big deal.

Which HS did you go to? The 'Honorable, Chivalrous Good Boys Choir School'? Man, if I got someone on the ground or vice versa, which was the very large majority of the time it was all over. Head stomping, face kicking.... I never heard of anyone that let someone up. It's a fight, not a picnic, why would let him up if he's trying to break your face?

I agree completely though that it's completely ****** to fight and to avoid it at all costs but when you can't, you ain't going to let the guy stand back up after you just knocked him down!
