Fact is the fight isnt happening. We can all speculate and point blame but I'm blaming them both. Spence and Crawford both are being ****ing divas. If they really wanted to fight it'd be a 60/40 split winner gets the bigger share but neither guy is that confident.

Better then fighting Khan OR Brook OR Avanesyan OR Kavaliauskas. Next Crawford will be fighting Broner or Ugas or Alex Rocha.

Espinoza says that there is supposed to to be some trust, well boxer's have been trusting their promoter's, manager's, and trainer's since the beginning of time.
You know what that's gotten them in return, it's gotten them cheated out of as much money as possible, by the very people they thought had their best interest in mind.
It really anger's me when I see how so many fighter's who have left a good part of their own life, and health in the boxing ring's in which they've fought.
Only to wind up broke financially, physically, and psychologically, no matter how much money they had earned throughout their hard scrabble career's.
Many fighter's have left their promoter's, manager's, and trainer's, but unfortunately for them they left way after the damage was done.
As hard as the boxer's gotten hit in their fight's, and even in their sparring session's, the hardest blows that they've been hit with are the financial blows from which they can't recover from.
They have to take the crappy deal's when they're first starting out, but once they're established they have to dish it back to them, getting every dollar, percentage, and royalty, that they can possibly get.
Why should the big wigs live so much better than the boxers who are pouring their blood, sweat, and tear's out throughout the course of their career's.

The bottom line is Top rank has spoiled Bud Duckford. They made him believe that he was worth more than he actually was by over paying him in order to keep him from signing with the PBC.

Which was why he was so taken aback upon learning about the PBC’s new business model. They don’t do guarantees. Crawford never had to wait to receive his money from the back end through percentages before.

He was always used to getting his money upfront. Which was why the negotiations were so mind blowing to him.

i think its disingenuous of Espinosa to cite production expenses as an example. If I was Crawford I'd be wary of miscellaneous expenses that could be artificially inflated under some umbrella heading.

But, overall, its a dumb idea to take a % of the profit with no guarantee. He could have taken 6 million plus 40% of profits or something similar - but the way I understand it that was never offered because PBC was unsure if the combined minimums of Spence and Crawford could be covered by sales - in other words both fighters too greedy and PBC not confident in their own abilities to market the fight to a higher level.

Exactly this! Crawford just doesn't get it. Not a single promoter rushed to sign him after he became a free agent. That speaks volumes about his market value. He really has no bargaining strength here.

And again, too many not understanding the BUSINESS of boxing.

                  Crawford. DOESN'T. SELL.

His last promoter put him on blast.

When you have a guy who repeatedly tanks at the box office against guys who at least have international notoriety if nothing else, and they STILL can't draw, you don't offer a guarantee because you don't know what to expect.

If Bob Arum hadn't done that interview, MAYBE Crawford could have snuck in. That ship has sailed.

This was very dramatic negotiations to start with. This is the first time I’ve seen a major fight being negotiated in the public since Leonard Hagler. Spence opened the negotiations saying Crawford has to take 60-40, or whatever he was willing to give him. Why didn’t negotiations start and resolve in the private. That was disrespectful.
Crawford didn’t say he wanted say so over the expenses, he said he wanted transparency over the expenses. You have one fighter who is P4P over boxing by many experts, and another fighter who is the unified champion of the division. Both fighters who sell out any arena in their hometown. Neither fighter is selling a million pay per views. Spence to his credit nearly doubles with a peaking 600 thousand PPV sales and Crawford a peaking 350 PPV sales. Let’s make both fighters happy and give the fans and sport what it wants.
