Well, good for PBF, he have that leverage to over-price himself on his next negotiation. But wait, 2009 isn't finish yet and the next big fight would be on 14 November, let's see how this will perform first when it comes to PPV before counting the chicks, just after all the eggs hatched!

      Glad you brought that up.

Golden Boy Promotions worked their a$$es off in promoting this fight and did a hell of a job, Juan Manuel Marquez has a good following (not "Superstar" status, albeit, but see who 80% of the live crowd was cheering for), it was Mexican Independence Weekend with a top Mexican fighter in the main event, the undercard was good, and we were coming out of a boxing-starved summer. All of these are factors that contributed to the success of this event. Mayweather deserves some of the credit for this success, no doubt about it, but it was a hell of a joint effort. Of course FM is going to take FULL CREDIT, while people with no common sense will also give it all to him.

I see this as more than Mayweather becoming a "Superstar", as follows:

            1. GBP has now officially become a REAL PROMOTOR! We can no longer say that they are just an HBO booking agent with Oscar pulling bait-and-switches to get his way. Many props to them.

            2. Great night for boxing. As a previous poster stated, Dana White can eat sh#t. The most "boring" fighter in boxing co-headlined a show and kicked his show's a$$. Can we now stop hearing about why fights shouldn't take place on such and such dates because UFC is holding their garbage on the same night???????
Haters will always find an excuse in anything.

I really think that if you put Pac/Marquez on a mexican holiday and put as much promotion into it as they did for the marquez/fmj(<--ftp) farce of a fight, i really think it could pull in a millie.....especially since it would be the trilogy fight......and it would definitely be A HELLUVA LOT MORE EXCITING than the fmj(ftp)/marquez fight, and would probably have more exciting undercard fights as well...........
