Fights he signed a contract for, he backed out of. He never signed a contract for the Tank fight. A contract for that fight likely never even existed.

Boxing has fallen so far in that respect. Leonard was accused of marinating the Tommy Hearns fight for 12 months, nowadays they marinate fights for 12 years.

When I was a kid, all the way up to I'd say the last 10 or so years, everybody fought.

Two top guys not fighting was actually the rareity. You'd obviously get some fights that missed for whatever reason, but because the vast majority of top fighters fought, it wasn't seen as an issue.

Today it's literally the opposite and it's actually sad.
