So many overly confused people here. Derrick James is spot on with fire.

“If you see in his uneducated perspective of what he thought boxing is, he got the fight but he was the only winner, not the promoter.”

    ...

“At the same time, I think that if he were to go into negotiations now with those numbers, you have no leg to stand on … ‘Yesterday’s fight is not today’s fight,’ James said. “Yesterday was an assumption, today is a fact. You can’t come up in my face talking this or that, that’s what you’re doing. I think it was something unnecessary for him.

“You can go through life thinking you are something in particular, and that’s cool, because you believe it’s who you are for yourself, right? But when someone tells you, no, your [pay-per-view buys], whatever the number was, I don’t really know what they were … that’s who you are now. So you can’t talk about —no, no. I’mma reference who you are. You can’t hide behind the machine of ESPN and Bob Arum … He’s by himself and now he’s totally something different.”

When asked to gauge his optimism on the possibility of seeing Spence and Crawford fight in 2023, James offered a tepid response, while pointing the finger at Crawford.

“I don’t know,” James said. “It may not happen. I think that it may not happen because, remember, his perspective of who he is [different] than what the numbers say and those things are not going to add up. He shouldn’t think any less of himself. But in reality you have to understand what the market says, and the market says no."
    Hot FYRE. Nothing but truth.

But his fans are like "he ripped off his promoter, more power to him " - great, let him keep doing that. That's his priority, NOT being the best. And he's still making a fraction of what Floyd was pulling against guys like Berto.

Explain to us all how he has less leverage.

The fact that Spence side don't want the fight is the reason you won't see it. If they wanted it, they'd be saying lets get the talk stated again and make the fight, not making up excuses why the fight probably won't happen.

The Avanesyan PPV did abysmal buys.

Based on that he might deserve an even lower purse split than was offered last time.

Do you have some inside intel on the PPV buys? They haven't released any #'s (and don't have to, so expect they won't - much like DAZN).

It is still not too late to make the fight. But I still see no sense of rush on the Spence side, just like when they started negotiating. You'd wonder how they spent all those months and months without coming up with anything which make you conclude it really wasn't meant to happen last year. That's a given, but how about trying again?

First he was not a welter weight, then he has no belt, then he's on the other side of the street and now he won't take payment in pooka shells because of an uneducated perspective.....Admit it, you don't want to fight him.

Exactly what I said. "Yesterday's price is not today's price". Business 101 that's lost on too many financial illiterate people on this forum. This is strictly about the business side of boxing.

When you take your car to Carmax to get a trade in estimate, you have 7 days to accept their offer. The offer will only ever go down after that.

What makes anyone think that a fight promoter dealing in MILLIONS would be any different?

If these fights don't materialize, it is the A side's fault, period. This case is no different.
Spence has never had a problem negotiating a fight until now. This is a recurring issue with Crawford. Ask his former promoter.
