It's definitely been getting worse. All of the fighters are now fighting once a year. Yeah, all of them, except the face of boxing Mexican superstar Saul Alvarez. Fox is not renewing their deal with PBC, Showtime is absorbed by Paramount, definitely not something the boxing department welcomes.
Shakur, Haney, Fury, inoue, all fought twice in 2022 and they will again in 2023.

Specifically pbc guys are the ones not fighting twice a year

I can make 10 lucrative fights easy. These dudes don't wanna fight for real. The clout is enough for them. But it's plenty of money to be made if they would man up

Cheerleading fans as well as haters who make excuses for their fighters are also part of the problem.

I’ve watched since the 80’s. People fought CONSTANTLY back then. We didn’t have the internet but it was still easy to keep up with the sport and the big fights because everyone fought so often and it seemed rare for an obvious fight to not materialize. Mike Tyson fought 15 times in 1985 alone. Yeah, not against world beaters but guys are taking years and years to get all of their no hopers in these days. Hell, Errol has been pro for a decade and only has 28 fights total. It took 22 fights for him to fight someone with a pulse. Yet even he fought eight guys 2013 alone. As time has gone on it’s become once or twice a year. That’s basically boxing in a nutshell now.

No, not to the extent it has been since Haymon and pbc has entered the game. But do tell me what you think is the reason for the sports current state..

Too many networks that you have to pay for to even see regular fights. They used to be fights in the US on Tuesday Night Boxing, the Spanish channels, ESPN Friday Night fights, etc.

Now you have to pay for everything and promotional companies are lining up with these networks and we are not getting the fights that are suppose to get let alone look at rising talent that are not aligned with these big promotional companies.

At this moment there is only one signed fight which is Plant/Benavides that captures the imagination, there are no other fights actually signed in the near future.

Munguia fought 3x last year, Golovkin 2x, Chisora 2x, you can probably find more if you research enough... Of course, those are not "PBC guys."

Correct on all points. Its what people are fed, and most of them seem to eat most of it gladly, or at least without any critical thinking about whats going on.

Like the previous poster said, boxing is full of problems and on the downslide for many reasons that could befixed or improved. Insyead of doing that, they add transgender boxing. Who in the univere wants to watch that? And yet, i cant help but think, if its there, lots of regular dudes will be watching it.

                  Its all messed up.

This guy is the only reason relevance of the sport since 2015. Otherwise, sport is dead since Mayweather's retirement. There won't be superstar anymore.
