  • Comments Thread For: Shaw Replaces Rivas, To Fight Ajagba In ESPN Main Event 1/14; Vianello-Rice In Co-Feature

Stephan Shaw has accepted a more daunting assignment than he had for January 14. St. Louis' Shaw was scheduled to box unbeaten Italian heavyweight prospect Guido Vianello in ESPN's 10-round co-feature that night at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York. BoxingScene.com has learned, though, that Shaw instead has agreed to replace injured Oscar Rivas in the 10-round main event versus Efe Ajagba.

Not a bad shuffling of fighters to recreate a nice main event. Shaw/Ajagba is a good fight and I'm not sure who wins. Vianello and Rice isn't a bad fight either. Guido was lucky to get that draw against Ibeh and Rice is a tricky out (as Michael Coffie learned twice).

Ajagba has been pretty quiet since that loss to Sanchez…

Glad they could salvage the fight. Lots of people seem to be giving Shaw a good chance in this one, has he got potential to break into the top 15-20? Haven't really heard much about him until recently.

Good fights, close fights and I can certainly see two upsets here.
I think Shaw outboxes Ajagba and reckon Rice upsets Vianello.

Go STL!!! Shaw is gonna surprise Efe and knock that stiff tower out!!! This is his showcase fight. I've been hoping for him to get one.
I kind of think Rice wins 60-40 but who knows. Does he show up in shape and have the winner mentality? If he does he's no easy mark.

I'm interested not only to see how Stephen Shaw, does against Efe Ejagba, but also to see if Rice can beat Vianello.
Because although Guido Vianello, has an undefeated record, he honestly lost to Kingley Ibeh when they fought.
The judges for that fight corruptly scored it a Majority draw, one judge scoring it for Ibeh 59-55, the other two scoring it 57-57.
