Why is losing once so horrible in the sport of boxing?

One of the reasons is there's not a lot of platforms to place them all in, both winners and losers. Losers end up waiting for ages to have his next fight.

It's gotten a bit better for fans in terms of being able to see boxing almost every weekend now. There was a time in the past it's only seen every month sometimes longer. Except the quality of fights remained abysmal.

There's also no doubt there are established fighters who deliberately avoid fights even when they are available simply because of the risk involved and the fear of losing.

I have nothing more to add here. I just hope to see some improvements next year like seeing fights that are overdue, and fighters being more active.

it's not bad... it's just that a certain fan base used the undefeated record of their fighter to justify why he is the greatest... this is the only thing their fighter has for them to talk about so they ran with it.

It's really not! What makes losing so Difficult in this ERA is all the Miserable F^CKS on Forums like this and on Social Media who instead of telling fighters "Hold Your Head Up Champ You Will Be Back" like what happens in the UFC and how fan and fellow fighters come together and Support Kamaru Usman after his devastating KO as well as Israel Adesanya after his recent defeat. The fans still come out for their next fight, excited to see the comeback story

In boxing not only fans but your also have trashy people in "Boxing Media" who trash fighters and mock fighters I've see Writers who work for RING, seem happy that certain fighters lose

It is a disgusting Culture within boxing that also drives away Casuals who do not want to get caught up in the middle of such ignorance. Most Casuals don't want to be apart of Boxing Race War Mentality/Narrative but they get dragged into it sadly when they do decide to watch boxing because some Jackass on Twitter or on Youtube jumping on making Things Racial

So in saying all that, fighters are terrified of losing in this ERA mostly because of the attacks that comes with taking a defeat so fans are Responsible as well for some fighters not wanting to take Risk. Prime Example, Canelo taking risk vs Bivol, that is the Thanks he gets? So because he Jumped up and fought a much bigger guy at 175 so now the FAKES are dropping him in the P4P rankings because he lost?

Not only does boxing have the worst fans in all of Sports, they by far have the worst Media as well who are so blatantly Bias it is Disgusting

Rivera who I like a lot lost on Saturday, first thing I posted was Cong**** to Frank Martin for his Incredible performance and Immediately I posted how Rivera would be back I typically post that after most fights because I'm a BOXING FAN I'm not just some Loser living Vicariously through a favorite boxer to the point in which I can't even give other Fighters their credit when they do well like most

Who the hell said it was bad for the sport?

We wouldn't of had all the great trilogies and worthy rematches over the years if it weren't for one of the fighters losing.

Might be the reason why I am getting more invested into watching UFC instead, it is true that MMA fighters have relatively low activity, but every fight they partake is a difficult bout. Also, the fighters have more options when fighting and having a loss doesn't ruin a fighter's career.

When there are 6 or 7 undefeated fighters in the top 10 of a division, it's a goddamn problem. That means absolutely no one is fighting each other.

A top guy in any other sport would not be called a bum because of one loss
Yeah the first time AJ lost I remember a british commentator was saying that AJ should retire, wild.

But it also doesn't help when boxing commentators reinforce the notion that a fighter loss sinks them. Martin-Rivera the commentators were all 'the loser has to pick up the pieces yadda yadda', Oscar threw both Linares and Matthyse under the bus when they fought Loma and Pacquaio respectively, saying that the loser of their fight has to retire. In Pedraza-Commey Tim and others kept saying the loser is going to be a gatekeeper. If you're a young fighter on the cusp of being a real contender and you plan on using boxing as a career to feed your family and you hear boxing commentators saying 'if you lose your career tumbles' are you going to protect that 0 or no?

In some cases, because the loss can often come at a point in age/career where bouncing back is harder because said undefeated records are stretched out too long.
