Hopkins because of longevity and resume. Mayweather is obviously more skilled but he'll have to beat two of the threesome of Cotto, Mosley, and Pac AND hope Hopkins doesn't do anything else he is thinking of like win a belt at cruiserweight to catch him.

      wow.

he's 43 years old and he won a belt only 3 years before mayweather did.

      what great longevity.

how long has he not been middleweight champ?

        Hopkins.

He dominated a division, fought just about EVERYBODY.

I dont like Hopkins... I see him as a classless punk outside the ring.

But he has earned his due by fighting the best.

I understand the hate, I do think Hopkins is overrated, but his beatings of smaller fighters are far more impressive than Mayweather's. Trinidad destroyed who he fought at middleweight, and Hopkins absolutely destroyed and KOed him. Pavlik was supposed to KO him, and got embarrassed worse than Marquez did. He is still a world class P4P fighter at 43. I'll take that over Mayweather for now. He toyed with Tarver, although Tarver did have to lose tons of weight. I'll take his impressive wins over Mayweather's, while fully admitting he doesn't compare to Mayweather skillwise.

mayweather has only fought 1 guy coming up to meet him.

one can say hatton but hatton fought at 147 before and even won a belt there.

mayweather has better wins. mayweather has fought the better fighters (at the weight and at the time he fought them)

hopkins just has the 2 bigger names. tito and oscar.

Hopkins hands down, he's one of the three best middleweights ever.

-20 successful title defenses of the middleweight crown, 7 times undisputed champ.

-Won the Lightheavyweight RING championship against Antonio Tarver. Defended it once successfully against Winky Wright.

              - Fought the best and dared to fight RJJ, Johnson, Trinidad, and most of all Calzaghe whereas Calzaghe is "not a PPV attraction" and brings a huge risk. He only fought Calzaghe for his legacy, he could have defended his belt against a chump like Erdei.

Floyd is much more talented but his achievements are even lesser than De La Hoya and Pacquiao.

B-Hop, no need to explain. B-Hop isn't done either, neither is Mayweather. Lets wait and see.

tough one to call, hopkins has been about longer but was a late starter and didnt get the big fights til he was past 35
mayweather is undefeated and has fought plenty of guys who are bigger than him unlike hopkins

Mayweather no doubt. Mayweather is a top 5 ATG.
                      1 Robinson
                      2 Ali
                      3 Leaonard
                      4 Duran
                      5 Mayweather.
