Its interesting. I used to be a big Mikey fan and acknowledge that i was one of those who thought he was going to stand up against Spence. The fact that he didnt try.....and afterwards showed very little in his next fights before retiring makes me wonder if i was seeing something that wasnt actually there. Gamboa on the other hand wasted a lot of his career with extended breaks so its hard to say how great he could have been had he fought more often in his correct weight division.
Didn't try, he was shut down, classy boxer fighters are not going to throw caution to the wind and just go apesht only to get knocked out, he was so outboxed by the much bigger Spence there was literally nothing he could do except get beat up, we just saw the same thing with Zurdo, they get beaten to the punch every time they try something and cant do anything, it's definitely not about not trying as much as it is about being outfought at every turn.
True story Crawford that's shows that Spence not a great fighter if he didn't stop Mikey Garcia he has the ability to finish some of the ffighters but Crawford is going to punish Spence
Another true story, if Errol had of gone for Mikey like he did Porter and Ugas it wouldn't have gone 6 rounds, he specifically wanted to put on a boxing clinic because Mikey was so public in saying he could outbox and outsmart Errol. Top class fighters will often do this, go have a good look at Haglers record he would often just out box guys he could have stopped if he went for the stoppage.

Zurdo tried to the end and lost. Mikey never commited at all.

I think they committed about equal and both were totally outboxed, the other thing is Zurdo was the bigger man weighing 200 pds on the night, Mikey was the smaller man, and Mikey is also a lazy fighter he doesn't have levels.
Tell me what Mikey was to do, in my eyes there was nothing he could do from 30 seconds after the bell went.
BS point of view by Crawford. Mikey Garcia wanted that fight, even against his own trainer/brother's wishes. Mikey knew that if he could beat Spence, that his status as a bonafide champion would go through the stratosphere. Mikey knew he was going to be the underdog, but felt he had nothing to lose (and everything to gain) had he faced Spence. Mikey was so wrong....and his career was no longer the same afterwards. Mikey Garcia suffered a fate that most fighters suffer after fighting Spence - careers are no longer the same. Ask Peterson, Porter, Brook, Algieri.
Crawford is probably afraid his career will suffer the same fate if he faces Spence.

Not every fighter is KOable
Holmes was unable to KO Cobb.
Pac was unable to KO Broner or Rios
Mike Tyson was unable to KO Green
Supposedly, GGG was going to kill Jacobs within 5 rds. It went 12.
There are tons of examples where the superior fighter was unable to end the under dog opponent.
Dud doesn't want to fight Spence.

So many variables are involved, one often overlooked is the emotional state, sometimes they go in with a burning dislike for their opponent and will fight with so much passion to hurt them that they KO them with a vengeance like Hagler Hearns, Marvin wanted to kill him and said its the only time he could kill a man in the ring he hated Tommy that much, other times they might even like thier opponent and don't want to hurt them so they just box out a win.
Fighters are not wind-up toys they have a lot of things going in their mind going into and during a fight that shapes the fight itself.

If thats the case...why stay in the ring? By your statement....Mikey has no ring i.Q. and no plan B.

Also, some ''fighters'' only want to survive.
Not getting KTFO is considered a victory.
Mikey raising his hands after every rd is an example
