People love Spence because they don’t like Mayweather. And he hurt Mayweather’s eye (among others as well — Ugas being his latest recipient of a damaging eye punch). Spence is p4p top ten, but beating Mayweather’s eye (very difficult because he was like an even better WW version of Tyson Fury with good head movement, clinching, footwork, and counterpunching) and that is why Spence has almost quasi-divine status among us boxing fans. No one else could do it.

Not to mention that chisora has been koed by journeeyman like whyte and has 12 losses to mediocore opposition. Only the elites can beat porter. Chisora loses to your average journeyman.
Spence Junior fought Porter in a manner which, gave him a better opportunity to look better. Spence Junior beat Porter at his own game.

if porter won 7-5, even with a knockdown, he still wins 114-113.
if the fight was 6-6, without the knockdown, porter ties 114-114.
but again, how do you come to the conclusion that if there wasn't no knockdown, porter would have won the fight? the knockdown had nothing to do with spence winning the fight. spence won the fight because in two judges cards he won 8-4. if spence won 6-6, he won because of the knockdown, but tell me how porter would've won if he didn't get knocked down
still waiting.....

Porter is just short of being an elite boxer. He lost to almost every elite guy he boxed, except Garcia, but he’s always competitive, even when he loses.
But think about this. Spence did drop Porter with the perfect hook. Any less of a boxer wouldn’t have been able to take that, but it’s Porter. He wasn’t even really hurt. He was barely knocked down. Really a testament to his toughness. Porter had a great chin. Correct me if I’m wrong, but that was the first time Porter was knocked down.
Theres no shame in “barely” beating Porter. Thurman barely beat Porter. Up until the later rounds, Brook struggled against Porter. Up until Crawford took over in the late rounds, Porter made it competitive.
Spence barely beating Porter doesn’t hurt how Spence is viewed in the world of boxing, because Porter is already established and respected in boxing as a guy who always brings it.
Spence was on the undercard that night lol.Last edited by Willy Wanker; 10-31-2022, 11:25 AM.b Murphington likes this.

Every time I see that fight I got Spence winning. Good fight and both guys were always trying to win. Don't know how anyone would come to the conclusion that he lost to Porter. The knockdown sealed the deal.
