That's why I think this is an easy fight for Leonard. He has every physical advantage. Remember that Leonard was a full blown middleweight and super middleweight at the end of his career. He could do everything Floyd does technically, and was a great brawler also as shown in the first Duran fight and the first Hearns fight.

How would it be easy for Ray if Ray struggled against Ayub Kalue and Benitez.

I think Floyd beats those 2 with ease without breaking a sweat.

Neither are all that quick and both punch wide. Watch the Kalule fight. He's very slow and more of a plodder.

Here is the difference. Floyd is much more in shape and has way better conditioning than Benitez had in that fight. Remember he only trained for like 2 weeks. If Floyd was fighting SRL i can picture him in the gym 24/7 and training his ass off and loving it. Floyd loves to train.

Another thing. Benitez had opportunities to counter when he made Ray miss but his punches were often wide a lot of the times and isn't nearly as quick a counterpuncher as Floyd. If that were Floyd and he made Ray miss he would nail Ray with quick short shots. There is a huge difference in the counterpunch speed between Floyd and Benitez and shortening of the punches. The straight right hand is there for Benitez if he had that in his arsenal.

I see this as a tossup.
but floyd doesn't throw combination... SRL does.

You can't judge the Hearns fight and base it on if he fought Floyd cause its a different matchup. Hearns has much more power, reach, length than Floyd but he can be hit. And if you can be hit you can potentially be knocked out.

Floyd would make it difficult for Ray to hit him.

I dont think the fight would get made. Floyd would be to busy challenging Ruben Olivares at welterweight.

                Good Point.

I may be wrong but that could backfire for Ray if he threw a lot of flurries. Sometimes Ray would throw these quick flurries but they weren't always accurate but it looked quick and nice. I could see Floyd blocking at times and slipping in a quick short shot that lands solid. Wait for Ray to flurry, block and counter.

Id pay 500 bucks to watch this though. Damn i wish it was possible and of course my money is on the Sugar Man. Just making a case for floyd

You might want to check your facts.. Benetiz trained seriously for this fight. The live telecast (which I have) points this out, how he generally does not train hard for fights, but this fight he trained seriously for the fight.

Your right about the counter punching speed of Benetiz and Mayweather. However, benetiz was quick too. Also, Benetiz would punch in 2-3 punch combinations, Mayweather is at welterweight been a singles puncher.

True Ray would get caught with a straight right hand, but he would gladly take that from Mayweather to force an exchange.

Now your leaving out a large part of the story of why this would be a mismatch. Lets examine Floyd vs Judah the 1st 4 rounds. He had major issues dealing with the speed of Judah. Then Judah did as he normally does, he self destructed. DLH fight, he could not get pass the Jab, had DlH had any stamina this fight was easily won by DLH. DLH lost that fight, vs Mayweather winning.

Now yes ray had some problems with Benetiz, but against anyfighter like Beneitz, Whitacker, Mayweather who will make you miss, anyone willhave issues with them. Could you imagine Ray fighting Maywether and Mayweather going back to Ropes vs Ray... Could you imagine Mayweather waiting and hoping Ray would tire out after 7. Could you imagine Mayweather trying to overpower Ray. Could you even imagine Mayweather trying to force exchanges with Ray.....No.

Mayweather would fight vs Ray, Like he did vs Judah, DLH etc. Only thing is, Ray is faster, punches harder, smarter, in better shape, great jab and had a great left hook to the body (ask Hearns,) along with a great right hand.

There is nothing Mayweather could do, besides fight a defensive fight vs Ray, and the ray that beat hearns, slaughters Mayweather. There simply is nothing offensively that Mayweather would do vs Ray, he would have to fight a defensive fight, and hope to counter Ray all night. Guess what, Ray has the reach advantage (not by much) on Mayweather and a great jab, and equal hand and foot speed, so Mayweather would have to come to ray, who is bigger and stronger....

You may want to look at how Ray fought fighters that he did not want to use Flurries against. Benetiz, he outboxed him, and kept benetiz on the end of his jab. A jab that actualy dropped him. Hearns, he moved, then stalked him, really no flurries. Why would he throw flurries vs a smaller opponent whose only chance is to counter him. He would jab him and make him come to him where he has the same speed or better, and if Mayweather came to him, then he would be open to counters.

Like mayweather said a great big BOXER, beats a great smaller BOXER. Stylistically it is a nightmare for Mayweather. Like Ray fighting Jones at middlewight.
