Ray is a natural WW. Arguably the best one ever.

I hate SRL. Floyd is one of my 2 favorites of all times. I hate i have to say Ray.

Leonard and prime Hearns at 147 both bodybag Floyd. So does Sugar Ray Robinson.

So exactly what pray tell, made Zab Judah's punches far more devastating than Sugar Ray Leonard's.

I got my popcorn waiting for this one
As far as speed yes, they were both fast punchers. I never said devastating, stick to what I said and don't inject things that weren't said.

Yes, when Ray wasn't throwing flurries, I'm calling those regular punches (as far as speed is concerned). Ray's normal speed level is slower than Zabs, but once Ray starts throwing flurries, his speed increases exponentially and that's when he's at his fastest.

So wtf is a normal speed level and why would you judge either guy at their most normal. What are these guys 3 speed ceiling fans?

Imo, Srl, is the faster, more devastating puncher of the two.

Ray’s 147 was with day of the fight weigh-in. With a day to rehydrate, Ray is too much for Floyd, as is Hearns. To be fair, 147 was probably not Floyd’s best.

Floyd never fought anybody as good as Ray and Ray never fought anybody as good as Floyd (as a total package) so it's extremely difficult to pick.

The guys that Ray looked great against fought totally different than Floyd did. Floyd defense would shrink what Ray could get away with so you can't think about how Ray beat Duran or Hearns because those are totally different fighters and Duran had pre-fight weight problems in the 2nd fight so even that wasn't the real Duran.

Although he had a killer offense and fought at a long range, Hearns would gas late which is how Ray beat him the first time. Ray was on his bike early and nulled Hearns early attacks, got him into deep waters and prevailed.

No matter how you cut it, Floyd is going to make Ray miss, now the question is can Ray adjust or does it just come down to being able to catch Floyd? Ray had a good body attack and could often catch you with a weird punch angle on a fade-away, but Floyd could easily catch him in the middle of something because he can slow time down.

These are two grandmasters at work, hard to see what can only happen through magic.

This would be a pickem at the bookies. I would give an edge to Ray because Ray was a natural welter and Floyd wasn't. Floyds best was at lower weights.

If I had to pick, at this moment in time I would say Mayweather 115-113 SD with a rematch to follow.
                    Awesome post!

I’m not sure that Zab’s punches were more devastating than Ray’s but Zab’s left uppercut still ranks as one of the most beautiful and deadly punches in recent memory.

Before Zab was stopped in round 2 by Tszyu, I seem to remember Zab landing his left in round 1 and knocking Kostya Tszyu across the ring.

I remember Zab stopping a few folks with that punch. Also if I recall correctly, it was a short right hook on the inside that separated Cory Spinks from his senses.

Zab was extremely fast and he did have serious power.
