If Floyd Mayweather made a serious comeback.

Never usually make Floyd threads cause it usually just descends into the tiresome same debate we’ve had for 15 years but…

Do you think he could still fight at the top level like B-Hop did on his mid to late 40’s?

He has right sort of style, the ring intelligence and work ethic/discipline to still be successful IMO.

He’ll obviously never do it because he’d rather fight YouTubers and abuse Japanese children but if he did I think he’d have a legitimate shot at matching/beating B-Hop’s record.

    Thoughts?

Nobody take this bait, it's a troll thread.

Floyd obviously looks terrible, getting worse every fight, got rocked by a lil guy last night, and anybody with a pulse would sleep him.

Eh, I dunno. He hasnt looked great in these exhibitions but its hard to say whether thats because hes not taking them seriously and not getting into his best possible shape.

It’s exactly that IMO. He doesn’t need to take them seriously.

No because Hopkins only fought into those ages because he had his first world title fight at age 28 and world title win at age 29.

Whereas Floyd was at world level from age 18.

These components are more telling them the actual age number.

If you start later, you tend to fight further in age.

Sergio Martinez is another example, Joe Joyce right now is another example.

Then you’ve got Wilfred Benitez who won his first world title at age 17 and was finished at the top level before he was 30.

Very point tbf. Foreman started pretty young though. In the modern era it does tend to be guys who turned over later on that have success past their physical prime.

Benitez was more lifestyle choices IMO.

I thought he was noticeably past-prime vs McGregor, his footwork and reactions just weren't as sharp. Had he been in with Thurman that night, he might've lost, though I would say Floyd slight favourite.

After hitting 40, Hopkins lost to athletic southpaws Calzaghe and Dawson, beat Cloud and Pavlik. I think 40 year old Floyd would have similar performances, outboxing the young guys who were more flat footed and easier to figure out but not able to keep up with the guys bringing elite athleticism+skill.

He looked sloppy in the Mocgreggor fight and that was only 2 years later after the berto and pac fights. At 38 he looked razor sharp and at 40 he looked sloppy but who knows because mcgreggor has a weird style and floyd probably didnt have a real training camp.

The guys that sparred him into his early 40s say he looked great in there but all the exhibitions hes been in he looks slower and his accuracy drops, looks really sloppy, maybe because he isnt afraid of being hit back but if he fought a real top 10 welterweight i think we would see how bad his timing got.
