After hitting 40, Hopkins lost to athletic southpaws Calzaghe and Dawson, beat Cloud and Pavlik. I think 40 year old Floyd would have similar performances, outboxing the young guys who were more flat footed and easier to figure out but not able to keep up with the guys bringing elite athleticism+skill.
Agreed. He’d have to pick opponents carefully no doubt. Danny Garcia would be a good choice IMO.

Say hypothetically, Crawford beats Spence to become undisputed, moves to 154 to fight Charlo and the titles become fractured. Then we have a situation like 2012 were B level guys like Malignaggi, Bailey etc held versions of the Welterweight title. That’s the sort of scenario I’m proposing.

No way he beats a Crawford, Spence etc at 45+, but with the right matchmaking I think he could definitely win a title.

All hypothetical though, no chance it actually happens.

No. He's old and washed up. If he attempted a comeback he'd lose his 0.

Discussing how a hypothetical (keyword there) comeback of an ATG would play out, makes me a fake fan? Seems like your logic is very flawed there.

As I said in the OP, I generally don’t like to make Floyd threads cause it brings out the worst sort of posters, no surprise you were one the first to reply…

I think Floyd could compete at the highest level, which is pro-boxing, but I doubt he would be dominant. Father time is undefeated.

Hell no. I believe he looks great punching the bag in his gym, but if he fought top 10 welterweight right now, he would find out that his time passed.

He is 45, he can`t compete with guys like Crawford, Spence, Benn, Ortiz jr, Boots..They all would hurt him pretty bad.

Not a chance. At 38 he couldn’t compete with the top tier prime welters, no way he can do it now at 45. Spence, Crawford, Thurman, Ennis, Ortiz all work him over. I would say even second tier fingers at 147/154 punish him, but there is no shame in that, he is 45 after all.

Hopkins longevity is partly because of his late start in boxing, and being the bigger man for most of his fights. His fighting style allowed him to take less punishment by clinching and wrestling. Something Floyd relied on heavily during his last five or six years before “retiring”.

Floyd Sr could school Conor Benn.

Floyd still looked incredibly sharp at 38. C’mon man…

Against who? A one-armed Pacquiao, a shot Berto? Those fights were boring and he got booed at the Berto fight with fans walking out halfway into it. Jab, clinch, run, throw a right hand pot shot. Wash, rinse repeat.
