Whatever happened to the Mexican style type of boxing? The only reason why Canelo didn't go for broke and press more in the fight is because he didn't want to take any unnecessary risks for fear of getting hit. He didn't want to sacrifice or give any inch of his defense for his offense.
I assume you critiqued Floyd a lot for his fights then? At least be consistent if nothing else

Wow, people can now stay off canelos ass about him and Vegas scoring because the judges were way off with the scoring ALL 3 OF THEM! This fight could’ve of been anywhere from 12-0 to 9-3… there is absolutely no way ggg got the nod in more then 3 rounds! 3 rounds is being generous to ggg! Everyone can now shut the hell up about Vegas judging favoring Canelo because they sure as hell didn’t favor him in this fight! These 7-5 scores that they turned in are far worst then the Byrd score card in the first bout! And there was 2!!!! Those two judges need to get investigated and so does the 3rd judge who didn’t do much better with the 8-4 bs ass card he turned in too! All you crybabies who cry bi.tch and moan bout Canelo and the judges, can sleep well at night, Canelo was robbed on the scorecards in Vegas but the ass whoopin was so bad that Canelo still came out on top with a UD. This sh.it is so hilarious as all you haters that always wished this on Canelo finally got your wish!!!! Lol but the man still Won!!! Lmao can’t make this sh.it upRegge

The fact is Canelo did not take care of business like like he promised to do against a shot, aged and slow 40 year old fighter.
The reason why he didn’t was because he was too afraid of getting hit. That was the reason why he didn’t press or take any risks in the fight.

They've had years of watching tape, training, sparring to fight each other, and met twice in fights that went the distance. What we see, and what Canelo was experiencing in the ring, feeling the blows, landing blows without consequence, he processed that information and felt a more aggressive strategy would be counterproductive. In his defense, and I'm a Canelo fan, GGG is very heavy handed. So, I guess the short answer is I don't believe he gave GGG too much respect. He gave him the respect he had accumulated in their previous 2 fights. Could he have gotten away with being more aggressive? Maybe.
