Comments Thread For: Oleksandr Usyk Repeats, Wins Split Decision Over Anthony Joshua To Retain Titles

What a great fight? I tip my hat to both fighters on providing us boxing fans with a such a spirited effort and performance. Usyk is a great champion and proved why he is considered P4P among the best fighters in the world.
As far as AJ is concerned; What a courageous display of fortitude. I admit I was wrong about Joshua's heart. He came to win tonight. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of will and determination he exhibited in this fight. Everyone knew that if Joshua had any chance of winning, that he was going to have to take several risks and he did just that.
More surprisingly he brought his mean-streak back. He was actually trying to knock Oleksandr out by hurting him on multiple occasions both to the body and head but Uysk proved that he is just on another level.
The man knows how to fight. After dropping the 9th round to AJ he came out with a renewed sense of urgency to swing the pendulum back into his favor. I also have to commend AJ because he showed one Hell of a chin in that round. Not once did he go down or was buckled or staggered from the punches he absorbed from Usyk.
In closing, the right man won. I just hope to see them both back in the ring again. Job well done fellas!

AJ showed great improvements in the way he fought but I think his shortcomings at that level are impossible to fix at this time. His chin is pretty weak and his stamina isn't where it should be for an elite 12-round fighter. His future opponents know this now do it will be hard for him from now on.
But that's a prime example of delaying big fights gone wrong. They kept delaying AJ vs Wilder then both took setbacks and that's never going to be as big as it could've been. same for AJ Fury. You shoukd always get it while you can!dan-b likes this.

I am watching it right for the 1st time. It's round 3 and already i do not like what I'm seeing in AJ's corner. His so called trainer is talking non-stop and I feel like He should have just shut the f... up and let Grandpa do ALL the talking and motivating. Afrer all, who has this guy trained, any world champions? I never heard of him b4 AJ hired him. So I feel like already, I see that AJ made yet another mistake by going from Robert "wack"McKracken to hiring some dude AND Robert Garcia. He should have hired Robert Garcia and that's it. He doesn't that other dude AT ALL. I'M pissed already because i see exactly whats happening. The problem isn't AJ it's the cornerP to the J likes this.

Usyk won three last year... you don't think there will be some orgs who will be thrilled to have them go back on the market?
We've got 5 days for Fury to be convinced to fight Usyk.P to the J likes this.

I'm a bit surprised that it's US judge who gave the win for AJ while British judge gave it to Usyk, albeit a very close one. But no doubt Usyk win and cleanly. AJ looks better in this second fight from aggression stands point, but did not hurt Usyk as much as the first one. He tried to rough up Usyk in round 11-12, maybe due to exhaustion, but simply did not work. He's not Chisora and with his amateur experience he doesn't master dogfight, if that's a way to take Usyk's technical advantage.
With this accomplishment, Usyk is among elite heavyweight in the history that came from CW. Holyfield is great but he always found difficulties against bug guys like Bowe or Lewis. I'm not saying that AJ is better than Bowe / Lewis, but in this era, AJ is one of the strongest fighters with good power shots and jabs. Usyk - Fury is going to be very exciting. Fury's feint and footwork is very impressive, but Usyk could be faster coming from lighter division. He might be taking more risk against Fury given Fury's raw power is not as powerful as AJ

It was a good fight. At first, I felt like Joshua fought the right fight this time, he understood he was a bigger man, he used his reach advantage, he put some pressure, he went to the body, Usyk didn`t like it.
But then it was just like Joshua tried to outbox Usyk again and here he lost the fight. Or I could just say that Usyk`s skills prevailed.
Usyk also seemed to be badly hurt in 9th rounds, but his recovering abilities are good also.
SD result is bizzare, Usyk clearly won the fight in championship rounds.P to the J likes this.
