Regardless, JMM called out mayweather, he knew what he was getting into and floyd used this fight to gauge where he is in the sport and how his body holds up at this point and i think he got his point across, mostly to himself.

You are sitting here saying "if you want to fight the p4p 2 at his best" when usually, the challanger moves up to fight the guy in question, not the other way around. Its exactly why when de la hoya called out pac, he conceeded to his demands, because was the one begging for pac to fight him.
Seriously, People just have selective memory.. Pac was already rated #2 since 2006 wherein he won fighter of the year.. People were already clamoring for him to be bolted to number 1 after successive light opponents that Money was takin during that time... But they gave him the benefit of the doubt since he was still undefeated...

It will be interesting to see the Ring Magazine rankings in October.

Cong****, Floyd. That was an impressive performance.

To be clear on what Kevin Iole said..

"On Saturday, he(Floyd Mayweather Jr.) reestablished himself as the best in the world. Until he’s challenged, he’ll carry the title of world’s best boxer, but not its best fighter."

There were 2 opponents people complained floyd needed to fight, baldomir who was linear champ and margarito. he took the linear champ and gave eveyrone the fight they wanted to see next which was him vs de la hoya, again, after he knocked out ricky hatton and won fighter of the year in 2007, there wasnt any question he was number one at that point.

I honestly would like to see the evidence of him, specificly in 2006, that he didint deserve to be p4p number 1 at that point, because i know it got serious in 07, but not 06

I am not saying that PAC has the consensus already back then, but he was already getting P4P No. 1 status since 2006-07 from some experts...

after PBF Manny has to overtake Joe who was doing well enough back then to get some nods for no.1 spot ...

There was no question that he was should take the number 1 spot in 2007 since that was his most profitable year, at the same time it was the time he solidified his claim in the P4P spot. Not to mention that Pac took some easy fights himself in 2007 ( washed up Barrera, and Solis) after having a dominant year in 2006.

But 2006 was no way PBF's year.. He fought Baldomir and Judah wherein fighters like Margarito was calling him out.. And the same time Pac had his career defining win against Morales (2nd fight).. A lot can be said about Morales, but it was that fight that bolted Pac to #2 spot in the P4P rankings, and also gave him his first fighter of the year award.

It was a very impressive performance. Especially when i consider that his opponent went life-and-death with Pacquiao.
Yo Al, let's not forget Marquez wasn't able to do what he does best, counter-punching... Floyd's defense was ****in awesome, I give him that, but the counter-punching JMM that went life-and-death with Pacquiao was the attacker tonight... Plus, the weight disparity is an obvious disadvantage for JMM... It was a great tactical fight for Floyd, but he really didn't beat the best JMM there is...

The only fighter calling out floyd was margarito who held the WBO and was not the legit champ of the division, the reality was that floyd pursued fights with shane and hatton and they both fell through when shane ducking him on national tv after KOing vargas, so he took the legit champ in baldomir whom he was taking heat for not fighting.

Pac fought morales twice that year along with oscar larios, The first morales knockout was impressive, the second one wasnt, morales showed up for a payday and got stretched. the larios fight was a stay busy fight for pac, regardless, floyd fought the former and current linear champs of the welterweight division at that time, i dont think that pac went leaps and bounds over pac in 2006 when you consider where morales was at the time he fought him.

Didn't bother to watch the 'fight'.
It was a tune up for Mayweather and therefore I couldn't be bothered to watch it (as I wouldn't for any fighter coming into a notably one sided fight).
I'll watch any competitive match up of his but I don't need to see him dominate an outmatched opponent again no matter how flashily he can do it. I've seen him do that too many times to be interested.
