I actually think Toney out boxed him just what he did to Vassily Jirov
Outboxing Beterbiev is not that hard - he is not a great classical boxer.
However, his ring IQ is very good and he maximises what physical tools he does have - immense power and inside strength. Not to mention he can punch just as hard on the backfoot as on the front foot too.
At some point he will catch Toney and Toney's legs will go to jelly. Then the shoulder rolls becomes less effective. He gets caught again and then the shoulder roll becomes obsolete.
Toney getting the usual hate led by the haterade general himself Iron Dan... Toney fought much better competition, never went down, his losses to Griffin are debatable, and a light heavy/cruiser with a looping punch is supposed to KO him... Seriously? Toney may have been fat but he fought 12 rounds at heavy, Rahman who was a physical specimen was gassed and threw next to nothing compared to Toney in their fight.
Griffin was also an excellent fighter... Something that often gets ignored.
I'm not sure how he quantifies his level. He was a champion in 3 weight classes, has some solid wins, mostly at 160, and a great chin that is complimented by his effective use of shoulder roll style. But he was also undisciplined, often out of shape, and inconsistent. Those are not traits of someone who should be marginalizing another champion's "level". Beterbiev has accomplished more in his first 18 fights than Toney did, and he is doing it in a much more dominant fashion. In a head to head match up I think Toney can weather the storm, but gets outpointed and outclassed. He may even score a flash knockdown with a slick counter punch, but to no avail. Artur by UD.

Sorry, where did I say Beterbeiv will KO Toney? Or are you just on your period again?
I'm literally quoting what Toney said regarding Beterbiev not being on his level. You take that as "hate" because you're incredibly feminine.
Toney didn't win a title at LHW. Seems way far out to consider him being a level above Beterbiev in regards to their standing as LHW's but this is a discussion board after all, you know, where discussions are supposed to take place? Instead of crying like a little baby make your case for why he's a level above Beterbiev.
Toney's LHW run was shit. He lost to Montel 2x right and you never knew which Toney would show up because he couldn't stop eating. Maybe the Tiberi or Thadzi version gonna show up, who knows. I love James, but he was a fat slob that got lazy. Sneaking out of camp and eating midnight street fries, true story!
Beterbiev would have stopped Toney at LHW. Beterbiev =---> even his probing and throw away punches are deathblows.
If Sam Peter couldn't stop Toney, I seriously doubt a lthw would hahaha
- - Two Ton is retired, punch drunk, and couldn't get close to 200 much less 175 that in his prime age years managed to eat his way out of near as soon as he entered it.
Record at 175 is 5-2 with both losses to little Montell Griffin. Prime to Prime Beter flips Toney's Lights Out Switch to OFF.
Montell Griffin was a very good fighter. He was giving Roy jones all he could handle in the first fight before the DQ. Roy was looking human.
