If I can go in there and be competitive with the likes of Shawn Porter, I wouldn’t have been sitting here since 2006, talking sh/t or praising boxers.

I guarantee every single poster who ever posted here, including him, has some harsh critique over a fighter.

With that said, these fans need to stop copying and pasting Bert Sugar’s top 100 list and claiming it as theirs. Because Bert Sugar was just a glorified real life boxingscene poster. He never got in the ring with any of those fighters he loved to critique.

Good fighter, solid resume, his style may not be pretty but always came prepared.

what he lacked in reach, he made up with his relentlessness
but he was never able to be a top 3 fighter

given that he is crawford & spence’s best win
with spence barely edging him out

what does that say about those guys?

There are some terrible takes on this that I guess are just made to generate responses.

Porter fights were rarely ever a beauty to watch but he was effective. He lost some fights but only against high level competition. He also beat some high level competition. Out of thousands of boxers in the welterweight division he was one of the top 5 or so. That's pretty impressive. Sometimes, things just need perspective.

I swear... Its like a sausage party... One guy in the dorms has a ****o on and everyone is watching, coming in, hoping their roomate stays away... Except its a cyber-hate party. lets take a guy and disparage him... Some idiot like broner perhaps? No... a well spoken, hard working guy who fought in a division that is concentrated with the best athletic talent, given the weight limits.

A guy who managed to beat some decent fighters and remain competative with perhaps some of the great fighters of our generation (time will tell). WHAT IS THERE TO HATE ABOUT SHAWN PORTER?

Both Thurman and Spence went through hell against Porter in competitive matches. The Ugas match coulda gone either way imo. Brook beat him clearly on the cards, which only adds to my frustration at the horrific decisions his management made with him. Porter winds up in wars because of his fighting style, even against guys like Granados.

                    100%

These ''purists'' think by comparing a MFer who does something for a living, practically lives it, is supposed to have his legacy compared to that of a fan ?!?!?!?

There are BUMS in every career/profession.
                    Boxing is not exempt.

''I bet you wouldn't last 1 rd with Porter !''

                    Maybe, maybe not.
                    What if a MFer is a young 6'6'' 245 lbs ?!?!?
These cvnts assume everyone is a short fat slob vegetating on a couch.

The difference between an athlete and a fan is not always about ability, but opportunity.
Having talent is just part of it. We've all passed by street performers who should be stars but aren't.
Just some bum begging for loose change.

It's a massive exaggeration to think if a person is not a professional boxer, that person can't fight.

In any event, Porter was crude and not very successful at it. Losing close is still losing.
His ''style'' ****** more than he did, TBF.

Wow OP is just plain wrong in an outright embarrassing way. All these years of watching said fighters run, hold (basically fight scared) and then people have the audacity to say skills pay the bills. Shawn had a very close fight with Spence and Thurman. Broner has power, Maidana said he hits harder than Floyd. Also Shawn had to go down to 144 or something.
