    Canelo cherrypicking Bivol

Let’s be honest here…You have to be an amazing fighter to come up from 154 where you win your first championship, climb to 160, 168, and finally 175 and “cherrypick” Dmitry Bivol.

Imagine if more fighters cherrypicked like Canelo? That’s pretty ambitious.

No one else from 154 to 175 would be accused of cherrypicking Dmitry Bivol. Even if they admit that they thought they could beat him over Beterbiev. No one in their right mind would accuse any other fighter from 154 to 175 of cherrypicking Bivol.

Canelo has very high standards of cherrypicking.

Usyk thought he could beat AJ, he was adamant about fighting him as soon as he came up to HW and got a couple of fights. Usyk cherrypicked AJ.

I have heard of fighters “cherrypicking” fighters below them, like Mayweather-JMM, DLH-Pacquiao. But wow, to cherrypick a top 2 undefeated fighter who campaigns at the weight class above yours, Canelo is has to be an amazing fighter.

I mean Beterbiev can come out and say, right now, that he is fighting Smith Jr because he thinks he can beat him. And nobody would care that a top 3 fighter thinks he can cherrypick a top 3 fighter of his weight class. Everyone is happy and excited about the fight next Saturday (I know I am).

Nobody cared that Usyk was saying he can beat AJ, it wasn’t a cherrypick.

But wow man, Canelo thought he could beat Bivol, he picked Bivol because he thought he could beat him. Shame on that confident cherrypicker, picking on top 2 Light Heavyweights like Kovalev and Bivol. And the audacity for Canelo to tell Hearn that he’s interested in Artur Beterbiev. Another cherrypick.

Boxers should grow some balls and fight fighters they think they can’t beat. Canelo should call out Tyson Fury after GGG III and Bivol II, win or lose. For god’s sake, fight someone you know you can’t beat Canelo. You boxing disgrace.

You canelo fans have all these dirty tricks to hype up his overrated resume. Kovalev was no top LHW, and if he was, he fought canelo in a a severely weakened condition with a rehydration clause and no rest after a brutal beatdown from yards.

Canelo and his fans need to accept responsibility for the being called a cherrypick. You have no-one to blame but yourselves.

All of 2021 Canelo and his fans beat their chests hards saying he was an all time great, that nobody in boxing came close to him on the p4p list, that he was the only one taking good fights, that he would go up to heavyweight and destroy Usyk, that Charlo and Andrade were bums that he never should have fought, that 175 was such a weak division that the first bodyshot Beterbiev and Usyk felt from Canelo they'd go down like Rocky Fielding.

We said if Canelo is as good as you say he is, why doesn't he fight Beterbiev, Bivol, Andrade, Charlo, instead of feasting on a very weak division? Then y'all were Having the audacity to say that Smith and Saunders were the most challenging fights out there, that Bivol and Beterbiev were bums compared to these 2.

Maybe you didn't say these things but many of his fanbase here sure did. They said that Bivol was another euro bum who was slower and stiffer than Plant and Smith. Said he was a paper champ who was weak to the body. Very basic 1-2 fighter, no head movement, easy work for canelo. They also said he was ducking Zurdo Ramirez and that Zurdo would batter him and stop him.

These are all just facts whether you like its or not the disrespect most canelo fans showed to the sport of boxing and other boxers, so when for years you call someone like Bivol a bum don't be surprised when people call it a cherry pick gone wrong.

Throwing stones from a glass house.

Kovalev was Ring #2 ranked at 175.

Felix Diaz, Kell Brook, Jose Benavidez, John Molina Jr, and Amir Khan however, they were not ranked in the top 10 at 140-147 by any boxing publications when Crawford fought them.

In the last 5 years, the guy you consider the best P4P fighter, has fought 4 Ring top 10 fighters:

          Porter
          Kavaliaskous
          Horn
          Indongo

In the same span, Canelo has fought 7:

          Bivol
          Plant
          Saunders
          Smith
          Kovalev
          Jacobs
          GGG

No dirty tricks needed to show who fights the tougher fighters and who is the real cherrypicker. If Canelo was the cherrypicker some of his critics claim he is, he would be in Crawford’s spot right now.

whether it was a cherrypick or not we will never know (personally i think team canelo thought it was going to be a routine nights work)but fact is 'the great canelo alvarez' got embarrassed and made to look like a ****ing bum and that can never be debated.

Crawford’s cherrypicking makes Canelo’s “cherrypicking” look like Sugar Ray Leonard’s resume.

Basically. Canelo is held to high standards by his critics. When you start of your career fighting Mayweather, Lara, Cotto, GGG, Jacobs, Trout in your 20s…you are sort of setting yourself up for failure because fans are used to seeing you at the highest level of boxing, fighting the very best, most proven fighters of each weight class. Struggle or not, he fought the best and that’s what is expected of him.

Even though Bivol is a top 2 LHW, which makes him one of the two best at LHW, the fact that Canelo thought he could beat him makes it a cherrypick,

That expectation will lead to critics claiming crazy stuff like that. Canelo cherrypicking Bivol. Of course you will have nut jobs like that. He fought the best fighter of his era at 23. He fought the most avoided fighters at 154-160, Lara and GGG when every other champions were avoiding them. His “lower tier” wins are Plant, Saunders and Kovalev. With a track record like that, you’re going to have nutjobs like terencebudcharlo making crazy ass claims.

I do think Canelo thought the Bivol fight would be an easy fight. You don't take a fight like that when you just signed a 3 fight deal and have the 3rd GGG fight looming.

He thought it would be “easy” or he thought he could win?

Not even the Kovalev fight was “easy” for Canelo. So I am not sure how someone can put those words in Canelo’s mouth.

Did he think he could beat Bivol? Yes, of course. Fighter’s don’t choose fights they think they will lose. No fighter picks a fight they think they can lose.

Look at Crawford’s resume for example. You think he racked up that atrocious resume by picking fights he thinks he can lose?

It’s like that other crazy claim: “So and so only fights for money.”…well newsflash, every boxer fights for money.
