And he got HUGE credit for beating Nonito. But the FIRST time. The first time was a great victory. The second time was a good victory. I think it was a good win but I don't think it should put him at #1 right now. A 40 year old that he already beat. It's not enough to push him up to number one.
- - What, U ain't never moved passed 3rd grade?
Inoue had to gut out his busted face to win vs Nonito who goes on to KO an undefeated WBC champ and KO another undefeated in his first defense. 99.8% of the boxing fraternity were jazzed over the rematch. 0.02% of 3rd grade grumps don't mean squat.Comment

Let me guess, it should have been Conor Benn?https://www.ringtv.com/640266-rating...or-pound-king/
stoppage win in bantamweight rematch over 39 year old nonito donaire results in him jumping ahead of usyk and crawford into top spotComment

One of my favorite fighters to watch Currently for sure, P4P Rankings are always subjective, no such thing as an "OFFICIAL" P4P Ranking. Just some Reports/GEEKS who never Boxed before giving their Opinion on a sport that they THINK they're some sort of Expert in
Fighters and Trainers should probably put together a Ranking based on what they Think and not some Fanboy/Man Crush List from Fanboys POSING as Reporters

I have had Usyk #1 on my non-existent list since he unified what was maybe the second deepest division in boxing when he accomplished it, the CW division. He did it emphatically, I do not see how remaining undefeated at HW, even if his first performance at the weight was not great, should lower him.
But.... wow is Inoue freaking good. I mean, I could make a few more pro-Usyk arguments. But there is not one anti-Inoue sentiment from me. He is legit dominate, and who at or around his division threatens him? He can hang out at #1, no worries from me.
Until Crawford proves it by officially signing to fight and beating Spence, he is barely top 5 for me based on his level of actual competition versus who he could have fought the last few years..Comment

If Inoue were to be number one, we should be able to make that argument before his win over Nonito over the weekend. Maybe I'm not giving Nonito the respect he deserves. I don't know. But to me he look as if his punch resistance just went down the drain over the last year. I don't know what it was, but that did not look like the Nonito I remember. Nonito looked as if he had aged overnight. And because it looked like a Nonito well past his best, despite his more recent wins, it's hard for me to see that win catapulting Inoue into first place.I have had Usyk #1 on my non-existent list since he unified what was maybe the second deepest division in boxing when he accomplished it, the CW division. I mean, is that what it is? Are people viewing Nonito as a dangerous opponent for Inoue? Maybe that's where the crux of the argument lies.Comment

I think after first fight some might have fought inoue overated. So in rematch it's like saying sorry to inoue for downplaying you. Just like usyk has to do it again against josh, prove people it weren't fluke and usyk will get get credit for beating man he already beat.
I'm not saying donaires is as good as Josh thoughLast edited by hugh grant; 06-11-2022, 03:18 AM.Comment

Except that hypothetical has never made any sense. A boxer's physical attributes, including mass, informs their style.
Yes I don't think P4P has ever been achievement or belt collecting its always been more a fantasy fight with all things equal that's why its called pound for pound, which is weight, equal weight.
Since when has fairness ever come into boxing fans' opinions, that's a rare comodity.
Otherwise, the best P4P would always be some Asian midget like Inoue who is super fast and powerful for his size.
Crawford is above Canelo purely due to being a three weight undefeated champion who has never been humiliated in the ring.
The latter was never the very best at 154, 160 or 175 and needs to defeat Benavidez to lock up 168.Comment
