Precedent dictates when you lose you knocked down the p4p list. Lomachenko lost he got knocked down. Chocolatito lost he got knocked down. Pacquiao lost he got knocked down. Trinidad lost he got knocked down. All of them were fighting above their natural weight class and they didn't get a break for it so neither should Canelo

We know that Crawford was clean throughout his career and the championships were won fairly in each of the three weight classes. We have no idea at what stages Canelo was juicing - also a lot of the names on the first resume had clauses attached which favoured Canelo. Crawford didn't have these... This is because Canelo was insecure in his abilities. It comes with the territory, that’s just boxing.
Media and fans praise fighters who keep winning, regardless of opposition, doesn’t matter if it’s sh/t opposition, or average opposition. Media and fans put down fighters who take on tough challenges but either don’t look amazing against them or lose.
In boxing it’s better to be like Terence Crawford than Canelo Alvarez. You get way more media and fan praise if you fight mediocre fighters and KO them, with just 2-3 good one’s, than you would if you have close fights with the greatest fighters of your era.
If you cover the name, Canelo Alvarez, and look at the mystery boxer resume. Forget it’s his resume. Take into account all of the issues and success that took place with each of the top 10 fighters in his resume. But it’s just not his resume. We don’t know who’s it is.
Top 10 ranked opponents:
154: Mayweather - Lost
155: Cotto - Won
160: GGG 2x - Draw and Won, 2 close fights, controversial
155: Lara - Won, close fight, controversial
160: Jacobs - Won, close fight, but no controversy
175: Bivol - Lost
154: Trout - Won, close fight, controversial
168: Callum Smith - Won
175: Kovalev - Won
168: Saunders - Won
168: Plant - Won
154: Liam Smith - Won
154: Ryan Rhodes - Won
Any sensible boxing fan would look at that resume and admit and praise that the fighter who fought all of those guys clearly likes to fight the best and likes to challenge himself. And even if this said fighter has been in some close fights against the best, a sensible fan wouldn’t give a fck. They would just be happy that there is a professional boxer who actually fights the best and is competitive vs any of the best fighters he has fought. That fighter would get a ton of praise.
But we live in an alternate reality where a resume like this guy’s gets praise instead:
Top 10 ranked opponents:
147: Porter, Won
140: Postol, Won
135: Gamboa, Won
135: Beltran, Won
135: Burns, Won
147: Horn, Won
147: Kavalioskas, Won
140: Dulorme, Won
140: Indongo, Won
The fight with that resume is ranked as the best P4P fighter in boxing. Let that sink in.
Not saying it should be the guy with the first resume. Just pointing out…the best P4P fighter is the guy with the above resume. Just lol @ boxing.
Crawford is a much better boxer than Canelo and has several more gears to go through in a fight than him. Crawford can fight orthodox, southpaw, can throw good combo's and is spiteful when he needs to change the course of a fight. Canelo is generally one dimensional - I've never seen him significantly adapt mid fight, he can't, its not in his nature. When a fight is not going Canelo's way he doesn't seem to have it in him to change it, he just folds or gets frustrated and starts lifting opponents of the canvas...
Most Importantly Crawford has not tasted defeat yet. Canelo has officially lost twice, should definitely have four losses and possibly even five. Usyk, Crawford, Inoue and Spence should all be ahead of Canelo on P4P.Last edited by Elastic Recoilz; 05-25-2022, 09:42 PM.Comment

Floys the one who lost despite hugging and running but received gift decisions vs Castillo, Maidana, Mosley, Paquiao, Oscer DLH ??? STFU. Bivol ?? Who couoldn´t hurt let alone KO Canleo a natural 154 pounder ? Bivol has ducked Zurdo fpr years, and would get beaten to a pulp if he moves 2 weight classes like Canelo did , clown.Comment

Canelo's a bum figter. Admit it. Floyd smacked him around like a bish and then Bivol did more of the same. Now he is off to fight a 40 year old because he don't want any more smoke. Loser! HA! HA!

Perfect post. Losses still matter tho. A loss could be the end for some fighters.Comment

Benavidez and Plant should have fought long time ago, I agree.
Charlo's case is a little more compicated.
Don't get me wrong, I think, unlike his little brother, he's a downright coward, an extemely talented and strong coward, but a coward nonetheless.
However, I also get why he hasn't moved up to fight Benavidez and Plant too.
Haymon has ONLY Charlo at 160lbs.
If a Charlo moves up, he loses complete control over the division.
Looking at it that way, aint no way Haymon allowing him to move up.
That's why its so important for the Spence vs Crawford fight to happen.
Once Spence beats Crawford, he will move up to 154lbs, Jermell will move up to 160lbs, and finally Jermall will have to move up to 168lbs.
If, at this point, he still doesn't fight these dudes, then phuck it, he's a clown.Comment
