Who cares what you personally thought. Overall Bivol was a heavy underdog that is fact. Being a cherry pick does not mean you are a bum, it just means your the easiest option. Jones is right.

Roy doesn't know WTF he's taking about. I think his brain has been hijacked by LDBC narratives. It's so obvious that I don't know how to explain it any simpler. Bivol was the easiest entry point for Canelo to attempt his undisputed run at 175 pounds. He was not a cherry pick. He was what was deemed the "weakest link" in a stacked division because Bivol hadn't KO'd someone in several fights. Canelo assumed that without crazy KO power like Beterbiev, he could use Bivol to acclimate before fighting the winner of Beterbiev vs Smith. He obviously underestimated Bivol to a certain extent, but no more than any boxer does to any opponent. Bivol hits harder than Canelo imagined, as we can see from his face the first time Bivol let go of a combo. He also thought he'd be more effective at hitting Bivol with everything he has, but Bivol's back-stepping took a lot of the steam off of Canelo's punches.

It is what it is, but what it is not is a cherry pick. It was an earnest attempt by Canelo to become undisputed at a different weight class. What did Benavidez have to offer Canelo as far as legacy? Nothing. What did Charlo have to off as far as legacy? Nothing. What did Errol have to off Canelo as far as legacy? Nothing but a name, and that name isn't worth much when that name has to jump several weight classes and be the small guy.

What's wrong with Roy? He's smarter than this.

Nelo was underdog, its not a cherry pick. Cherry picks are when you pick weak underdogs. Picking underdogs is ok, but try pick the stronger underdog. Bivol would be a stronger underdog than a charlo, or andrade. Even beterbiev isnt a stronger opponent than Bivol. Althought beterbiev might be favourite against Nelo.

I honestly would have put money on Bivol but, as I feared, Bivol needed to dominate to even get a squeaky thin decision. I think the odds reflected this.

I know Nell was betting favourite. But I thought bivol would win so Nel o was my underdog.
point being bivol was one of the stronger underdogs so can't be deemed cherry pick, otherwise it starts getting silly
