If you enjoy boxing more than MMA, why?

Bellator > UFC

Bellator is a mixed bag imho. They have good fights and fighters at times but theres a real issue with quality control. They were far too willing to use old, washed up ex-UFC or Pride names as feature attractions years and years past their best and over time it hurt Bellators credibility.

Now, Strikeforce on the other hand, was ****ing amazing. They were building so much momentum until the UFC snuffed it out.

Yeah they started blowing up really quickly around 2009 because they managed to sign Fedor at a point where he was still unbeaten. Then not long after that they signed Hendo too who was coming off of being one of the coaches on TUF and then taking Bispings head off with an iconic KO at UFC 100, which at the time was the biggest UFC card ever. Then a bit after that EA made their first MMA game and because the UFC license was tied up they used Strikeforce instead.

Their roster was really really strong for a UFC competitor, they had ex-UFC/Pride names at a point where they were still very good, mixed in with a bunch of homegrown talents who would go on to become well known and/or win titles in the UFC - Ronda, DC, Woodley, Masvidal, Shields, Rockhold, Cyborg etc. Towards the end of their existence Rousey was already becoming a pretty big star and was obviously the driving factor in the UFC introducing womens fights to their cards.

The Strikeforce HW GP in 2011/12 was one of the better times in HW MMA history too, if you factor in that at the same time Cain/JDS was happening in the UFC that was probably the overall peak of HW MMA, although some would say mid 00s Pride was better.

I find mma boring, but that's because I know nothing about grappling and jujitsu. Plus the UFC and a large portion of its fanbase seem kinda trashy and assholish. Boxing promotions still put effort into making its events look like "prize fighting for the high class entertainment".

Ive always found this **** tedious tbh. I remember back in the 00s Arum, Dibella and Floyd did interviews about MMA and within like a minute all three completely unprovoked took it into white guys this, white guys that talk like somehow its an automatic negative. Its just weird. I mean dont those same "hillbillies" make up a significant portion of the audience for American football ie the biggest sport in America?

If MMA fans, promoters and fighters were so quick to make similar observations about the demographics of boxing fans in America, and present it as a negative, it wouldnt fly at all. Its not even especially accurate anyway.
