In fairness, they had agreed to fight Mo Hooker who pulled out injured but still, this fight doesn't do much for me.

I'd prefer to see him against fellow prospects such as Rocha than picking the bones of the likes of Broner.

Even on the world stage, is this really a big test? I have no idea.

The Brook fight was there to be made, and MatchRoom backed out of that one.

Kell Brook was not shying away from Conor Benn.
Personally, I think Brook is shot and they'd stick it on PPV.
      I can live without that.

The difference between Ennis and Benn, is that no one knows who Ennis' promoter is! Cameron Dunkin is not in the news everyday! Eddie Hearn is more popular than Ennis and Benn combined! He talks up Broner, Hooker, etc., but gives you Van Heerden! He gives the appearance that Benn is on the level with Ennis, Ortiz Jr., and Stanionis, but Benn is nowhere near that! If he were, he would be fighting Avanesyan!

Ennis fought a last minute replacement Van Heerden who was on a 5 fight win streak. Benn is fighting a Van Heerden who hasn’t fought in 2 yrs. Neither fight is great but Benn situation is worse, unlike Ennis team they have time to find a better opponent who isn’t coming out of retirement. Context matters in boxing

Late replacement when Dulorme had covid. Is Avanesyan calling out Benn or Ennis. Just Benn, right? I wonder why that is...

Good post. Also, nobody was excited for Boots to fight Van Heerden at the time.

Sure Benn was supposed to fighter Hooker before the injury but Hearn and Benn raised expectations by dropping other names and then settling in a guy who's been inactive nearly 2 years since looking hopelessly outclassed in his last fight.

Used car salesman Eddy. It was owned by a guy who ran it into a ditch, just ignore the dents.

This actually is an improvement from Hooker, who was coming off multiple brutal knockouts.

The Brook that just fought Khan would be a good test for Benn but I do believe the extra 2 pounds he would have to lose would weaken him drastically. Benn could be a world beater but the Algeri's of the world isnt proving it. I wanna see Benn, Boots and Ortiz fight a Thurman or Porter ( sadly he retired ) or even a Danny Garcia and see what these kids are holding. I think when the dust settles Boots will reign supreme.
