The MMA guy survived the first round, in the second the (significantly bigger and younger) Thai guy tried to just use his footwork to keep distance to avoid the grappling, but got hit with a perfectly timed takedown and immediately put into a terrible position, where he got choked unconscious not long after.
You have to understand....nothing is 10x10.
Of course every now and then an MMA fighter will show some skill

IMHO, there are way too many instances of wildness for my taste.

I mean, the consensus prediction was the MMA guy would win by submission in round 2. Its not like it was some rare unexpected outcome. The Thai guy didnt have it all his own way in the striking round either, notice how many times they hit grappling range during the striking round too. And the MMA guy, while an ATG, is 35 years old and coming off a KO loss.

I'll take your word on those guys being quality combatants who earned their rep by beating other top guys.
I still think women when I see kicks during fights.

Masvidal has always been pillow-fisted with 4oz gloves, and he doesn't have top-notch cardio. He also recently jumped a guy, ran up behind him and sucker puched him multiple times and didn't even knock the guy down.
