Because its not really like a jab, it can be initiated from further away than a jab, its targeting a place your jab cant reach, and its often used for a different strategic purpose than a jab is.
I really dont get the anti-kicking stuff. It hurts like hell (it initially hurts your own legs as well until they adapt to it), its effective, and its relatively difficult to learn. If you see some of the really skilled kickers whether MMA or obviously even more so kickboxing its pretty damn aesthetically pleasing too.
I'm not sure you can even legally wear spandex in unified rules MMA these days
Grappling is pretty ****ing great imho. I do think its something that isnt as instantly relatable to a casual audience as striking though. Its much more technically complex but typically at a slower pace and theres a lot more subtle things happening that dictate success or failure that the untrained eye isnt going to be able to pick up on.
