Why did Hatton do so badly against Pacquiao?

Style wise, hatton takes shots, and doesnt mind if he does.... Pacs power was 2 much and he was walking into pacs best shotsComment

The minute he step into the ring he totally disregarded any and everything Mayweather Sr. said to him and reverted back to his pitbull style of fighting. It's almost as if he made the decision during the pre-fight pageantry and said F it. Put simply, Hatton plays checkers, not chess.Comment

Hatton believed he was bigger and stronger than Manny. Plus he now knew he could be beaten and knocked out and no longer had that confidence of feeling unbeatable.
He simply thought there was no way Manny could hurt him and by the end of the first round he'd been touched so much he couldn't switch up his game plan because he wasn't prepared for Manny's power.Comment

I don't think he expected that much power from somebody who's supposed to be so small compared to him.
He must have thought that he's been in with bigger guys that hit harder, surley he could take a punch from little Pac-man.
I think he expected to overpower Pac as easy as he did to Paulie and just forgot about boxing skillfully.Comment

It's all in the game plan. Diaz, whom I consider a much less caliber fighter than Cotto, went the distance, and he's a lead footed puncher with very little if any head movement. His game plan worked, and even though he didn't win, he didn't get KTFO like Hatton did. Besides, the punch that took Hatton out was based on two things..One, Ricky's own momentum, coming in at an angle that put his full body weight into the swing that he missed...and Two, Pacs punch force and trajectory meeting that jaw coming at it with full momentum. Combined, they make for a small nuke explosion inside Ricky's head. LOL.Comment
