So far, the most on point analysis. You hit it on the head when you say he blatantly disregarded everything in his training curriculum. He rushed in, tried to impose early, didn't jab, didn't move, didn't do anything to even remotely try to foil pacs speed. I and a friend had talked about the fight a few days before it took place, and he predicted that Hatton would do just that...forget all his training and get himself knocked out. Good post.

Hatton believed he was bigger and stronger than Manny. Plus he now knew he could be beaten and knocked out and no longer had that confidence of feeling unbeatable.

He simply thought there was no way Manny could hurt him and by the end of the first round he'd been touched so much he couldn't switch up his game plan because he wasn't prepared for Manny's power.

I think Pac beats Hatton any day of the week but the way Hatton went down twice in the 1st and then got KO'd in the 2nd wasnt because Pac was better there must have been something wrong on Hatton's part to get taken out so easily like that.
You ask people for opinions then you call a post different from you bull****........lol!!

I don't think he expected that much power from somebody who's supposed to be so small compared to him.

He must have thought that he's been in with bigger guys that hit harder, surley he could take a punch from little Pac-man.

I think he expected to overpower Pac as easy as he did to Paulie and just forgot about boxing skillfully.

It's all in the game plan. Diaz, whom I consider a much less caliber fighter than Cotto, went the distance, and he's a lead footed puncher with very little if any head movement. His game plan worked, and even though he didn't win, he didn't get KTFO like Hatton did. Besides, the punch that took Hatton out was based on two things..One, Ricky's own momentum, coming in at an angle that put his full body weight into the swing that he missed...and Two, Pacs punch force and trajectory meeting that jaw coming at it with full momentum. Combined, they make for a small nuke explosion inside Ricky's head. LOL.
